No, merely old school trainers that realized the value of the fast reload possible with a SxS, two fast shots, break, load 2 more, fire, repeat, you use a 2 part sling and drop the shotgun and alternate with your sidearms and supplemental carbine or LE subgun.

I grew up shooting skeet with an Ithaca 37 and made bunch of all american teams shooting Perazzi and Krieghoff O/U but the shotgun i prefer for home defense is a FNH SLP-1 auto. as Massad Ayoob noted, he trusts the engineers (he used an 1100) at Remington to make sure the next shell will fire over his sweaty hands racking a pump in a gun fight

The Keltec KSG is the same length, can be shouldered, holds 15 rounds, and both tube magazines can hold different ammo for switching. I do like the idea of reloading with a magazine though.

One thing I do not do is load too many accessories onto any gun, making it more cumbersome and unwieldy.

No saddles or too many doo dads, a svelte spartan gun, emphasis on well maintained..

I have run a FNH SLP-1 auto; it’s got a lot of features I like. But, my go to shotgun has been a Mossberg 500 that I got back in the sixties that fits me perfectly, or by now that I fit. It’s taken a massive amount of game on the wing. I converted it years ago for SD, keeping the same basic reach, but shortening the barrel the the legal limit. Are there better choices? Yes, but I run mine so unconsciously that, for me, it’s hard to justify another, even a semi, except I just like to collect guns.bI would stack my speed of running it against the OP gun. I have a couple guns like that, including an old, sears acquired Mossberg tubular mag .22 bolt that has had a truck full of ammo through it always liked that it would feed shorts through LR). I know at any range where it’s going to hit and at any range, subconsciously where to hold the open sights. It has cleanly taken more small game than any gun I own. Sometimes you can shoot a gun so much it becomes part of you. These were the two guns I have owned the longest, worthless to anyone else, but will be kept when the others turn to rust. I’d say the same for my old browning challenger which I can shoot and hit hand thrown clays all day long within 20 yards. I have other guns for other tasks, but if I go for birds or to fill the pot, I tend to reach for one of these.

The Kel-Tec is a compelling concept, and if properly executed in production could have completely changed the dominant paradigm regarding tactical shotguns. But, Kel-Tec has problems maintaining quality in production and the guns have, as a result, suffered accordingly. Reports of failures and parts breakage are prevalent.

That said, I had one for a time and ran it hard to see how it did. Not as smooth as a good 870, and attempting to load under stress could be problematic. BUT, it's capacity made it pretty likely you'd never need to reload. It was surprisingly accurate with slugs, and I never had any kind of mechanical malfunction with it. If Kel-Tec gets the bugs out of it I might reinvest in one as a house gun.

    But I bet I filled the pot better-er-er !
There were times I was so hungry, and I shot a plump Guinea hen, roasted it over the coals, and ate it over a
    cabernet sauvignon !

Oh, I don’t know. I started hunting young. To get through college, I hunted to make money and it was a means subsistence for 6 years. Every year, at the break of winter I threw a wild game feast, feeding 30 to forty or more at a friends farm. Good memories those.
Just an aside, growing up in Ireland I had a rep for bagging large numbers of rabbits, providing for my family and neighbors... my weapon of choice, a ferret (if you’ve never seen it done, it’s worth looking up on YouTube).

given your familiarity with weasels, I can see why you handle some of the more mendacious posters with ease!!

If you can ever get your hands on a Winchester 1300, do so.

The pump action shotgun that thinks it's a semi auto shotgun able to fire five rounds in one second with some practice.

    Illegal in most European countries.

If liberals in California only knew it would be classified as an assault weapon.

In the video 8 rounds in 2.5 seconds.

I had a very short LE Winchester 1200
Shotgun with a Pachymayr pistol grip, it handled like a dream and I carried it everywhere, vehicles, etc.....
    Under my pillow at night....
    Sweet shooting shotgun.

Many of the anti-gun posters remind me of rabbits... they advocate the stay motionless and hope for the best or the run and hide tactic when a single predator is set free among them; why so many ended up in the pot.

    Yes !!!
One night on moonlit path, I saw a large toy stuffed rabbit, and as I reached out to take it home,
    it ran off !!!
I was shocked because of it's size, I thought it was a stuffed toy....

The UTS-15 and DP-12 are similarly interesting. Would like to see owner reviews after sustained use.

    If the Keltec design were
re-engineered by lets say H&K or other manufacturer experienced with stamped metal firearms, it might be a most viable concept gun.

    Too many cheaply made parts.

If they can't own a semi auto with a mag, they need to rise up against their communist oppressors and fix that.

    Good !
I would much rather pay 4 times as much, and have a reliable solid well made shotgun.
