Would you like to 'debate' your religion? Do you 'lack the courage' to defend your convictions, or to present them openly for examination?

It is easy to snipe from the sidelines, or be a critic, but it is another thing to present ideas or beliefs in a rational manner, or 'debate' the pros & cons for a worldview.

..and how is 'the possibility of a god at the beginning of time', NOT a 'religious' conviction, that some are 'debating'?

I do not have a religion, so debating it would be pointless, however I do believe in certain things, such as a mixed economy and broadly socialist society. This I debate openly on the political threads, where my convictions are often scorned. I believe each person has there own worldview and not to make assumptions based on labels. I believe it is impossible to give life meaning by claiming to know something you cannot possibly know, ie what happens after death, so someone who believes in gods are just giving themselves an artificial meaning, they hope exists. Much better to make your life meaningful to the living.

My worldview is different to anybody else, as is everyone's IMO, so I do not think we can debate worldviews as a whole but we can debate aspects of our worldview with others and how different aspects of our worldviews interact.

I did not say that it was not a religious conviction, but to have a genuine debate we would need to define exactly what each person means by a god/gods. For instance, why only one god? is it an intelligent god, with or without a design? or just a creator? did god/gods die? did god/gods evolve? How, if at all would taking the act of creation out of your religion actually affect what you believe? You might tell me that without god creating the universe your religion falls apart, I do not know.

Wow look at that, atheists can believe all sorts of **** and claim its not a religion, at the same time they claim it is a religion for theists. Now thats just plain twisted!

You claim only fools are being fooled? And yet here you are, being fooled into responding. Somewhat telling.

Wow, atheists believe things, how amazing. Religion no. All atheists believing the same things, no. You really should get out in the world, it is a fascinating place, and you get to meet all sorts of people. Theists believe all sorts of things as well, most of it probably nothing to do with god or religion.

Ah, so that is your goal... to heckle & intimidate people into leaving, so they won't refute your narratives. ..not very open. ..more of a despotic, controller tactic, like the brown shirts.. or antifa. But i suppose that ideology is part & parcel of YOUR atheism.. it is not just a belief about origins.

I use 'religion' as a synonym with philosophy, or worldview. I prefer the latter, but since you used 'religion', i used the same term, to illustrate the point.

So the point is, would you 'debate' your worldview, philosophy, or religion, however you want to call it? And you then proceed to make dogmatic statements of belief.. which find refreshing. I really like these statements:

I believe it is impossible to give life meaning by claiming to know something you cannot possibly know, ie what happens after death, so someone who believes in gods are just giving themselves an artificial meaning, they hope exists.

This is a valid belief, with rational bases. And other than the little dig toward theists, you express your beliefs with conviction & sincerity. What is wrong with doing this?

Now, some theist might dispute your caricature in the second part, but that is your opinion, as well. You have no way of 'knowing' this as an empirical fact.

Your last paragraph is speculation about the different beliefs ABOUT a Deity. This kind of thread is not about specifics, but the general concept of 'God/noGod'. It is not necessary to define or describe any specific traits concerning this Deity, other than the basic one: Eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, etc. And how can you 'debate' these kinds of speculative traits, anyway? It is really no different than 'debating' the God/noGod dichotomy.

it seems to me, that the Central Debate, over the millennia, has been EXACTLY the general concept of a 'God', vs noGod. the concept itself is trouble enough, without bringing in more fantastic speculations about unicorns or leprechauns..

admission you have no moral compass means you are a nihilist. nihilists have no religion, or so they would try to claim.

It truly sounds like you are describing the theist method of operation.

You call it mockery when your beliefs are challenged but condone mockery if it is pointed toward any other belief, or lack thereof.

    Very Christian of you.

Morals are a manmade concept to promote civility among primitive tribes. Surely even you know that.

Once again you are assigning what you believe to others. Cite and admission of no moral compass in fact, not merely your opinion.

you stated on a public board you have no religion, you really dont comprehend that morals are the primary basis of a religion, therefore you have no morals, and if you do have morals you have religion. simple.
