I am typing this with tears in my eyes. Marmaduke, my beloved St. Bernard, is gone. He died last night, apparantly in his sleep, in his favorite spot on the porch. Liz found him when she went to go jogging.
I'm very sorry to read this.... if it's any comfort, please remember if he died in his sleep, then there wasn't any suffering. To me, no suffering is so important.... he went peacefully. I know how important fur babies are....... again, my condolences....
So sorry for your loss. I've had to put my dogs, cats & ferrets to sleep. I've had to bury chickens, rabbits, birds and many other critters. It's never easy & I've bawled my eyes out every time. Again, sorry for your loss.
Yes. Happy memories. It's a privilege to have them and horrible when they have to go. But as you say, you remember every one.
Yeah, thats a tough one. I grew up with a St Bernard from the age of 5 to 19.. he was my best friend and on Valentines day he literally just dropped over and died in front of my sister. I cancelled all my valentines plans with my girlfriend as we were about to walk out the door and rushed home, the family in absolute devestation. Never felt the same about another animal ever again. My condolences..
Thru out the yrs when I had to say good-bye to my fur baby, within time I'd get me another one -usually from the animal shelter. It does help heal the heart faster when you have another kitten or puppy and there's so many out there that needs a loving home..... You might give that some thought, Jarlaxle, since you love animals....
Nothing can replace your buddy as we all know but with the love you have you can give it to a new friend when you are ready
Yeah, it's to soon - a person knows when it's time to go to the animal shelter........ I know it's hard. Benn there and done that and it's like losing your kid.... Cats are fun and they're a different type of animal - very independent, snoopy, bossy, lazy, entertaining, very intelligent, sneaky .... I love them!
