    Oh, joy.

I guess we can expect a corresponding infestation of Vlad the Invader's flying Internet monkeys here and in other social media platforms.

You know how it goes - Every time Putin invades another country they come crawling out of the woodworks like cockroaches.

I can almost hear them now....

US secretary of state calls out Russia for killing civilians in Ukraine

From CNN's Zachary Cohen and Kylie Atwood

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called out Russia on Tuesday for killing civilians in Ukraine, telling the United Nations Human Rights Council that Russian strikes “are hitting schools, hospitals and residential buildings.”

“They are destroying critical infrastructure, which provides millions of people across Ukraine with drinking water, gas to keep them from freezing to death, and electricity. Civilian buses, cars, and even ambulances have been shelled. Russia is doing this every day – across Ukraine,” Blinken added.

The remarks by the top US diplomat come after Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of war crimes for bombing the city of Kharkiv.

Over the past two days, Russian attacks have hit civilians, suggesting a shift towards a far-less restrained bombing campaign. Earlier Russian attacks were more focused on military targets.

Zelensky also made an impassioned plea Tuesday for European leaders to “prove” their solidarity with his country.

"We are fighting for our life," he said in a speech to the European Union Tuesday.

Pro-Kremlin Chechen leader acknowledges casualties in Ukraine

    From CNN's Nathan Hodge

Ramzan Kadyrov, the pro-Kremlin leader of Russia's Chechnya region, made a rare admission about casualties sustained by forces from Chechnya in the invasion of Ukraine.

"Unfortunately, there are already losses among the natives of the Chechen Republic," he said in a statement on Twitter. "Two died ... six more were injured to varying degrees."
The Russian government has not released detailed statistics about troops killed and wounded in Ukraine, despite extensive documentation by international media of Russian casualties.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, said Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin was fully briefed on the situation in Ukraine, but Peskov said he had no specific information on casualties.

I would not like to believe it. If it is true, then it is terrible and I have no words for that.

Iran is a country of 80 million holding the 2nd largest reserves of natural gas and traditionally, before US sanctions, the 2nd-3rd biggest oil exporting country in the world. It isn't' Iceland with less than 1 million people or New Zealand withe 2-3 million. The figures below are peanuts in context.

    https://ec.europa.eu/trade/policy/countries-and-regions/countries/iran/#:~:text=The EU is Iran's 2nd,amounted to €4.5 billion.

Thank you for the video. Graham Phillips has been reporting of the atrocities in Donbass for 8 years, and as I recall when he tried to make his presentations in London, he had to cancel because the place he rented was under heavy economic pressure not to allow him.

People are starting to wake up to reality though, slowly but surely. i came across one German video as well as others, which showed how images from something which occurred years ago in other cities and even from video games, were being presented in the BBC and other news outlets as being in Kiev.

    https://www.france24.com/en/tv-show...tion-except-putin-says-georgia-s-zurabishvili
In an interview with FRANCE 24, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili reacted to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Georgian leader said she was "not too convinced" by Russian President Vladimir Putin's assurances that he is willing to stop attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Zurabishvili added that the only party that is escalating the war in Ukraine is Putin himself.

Putin keeps pushing people away from russia.

    yeah, so?
You get to notice an incredible drop in trade with Russia since this week.
While the trade with Iran isn't zero, and Iceland is next door who need to import EVERYTHING.
That's not so much the case for Iran.

Russia's advance on Kyiv is "where it was yesterday," US official says

From CNN's Michael Conte and Jeremy Herb

The Russian advance on Kyiv remains “basically… where it was yesterday” according to a senior defense official.

The Russians are not only facing “fuel and sustainment” problems, but are showing signs that they are running out of food, the official claimed.

The official cited a number of possible reasons for the stall, including Ukrainian resistance.

The official also cited the possibility that the Russians were pausing their advance by choice because they could be “regrouping, rethinking, reevaluating.” CNN reported earlier that the US believes Russia is resorting to heavier firepower and more devastating weapons systems

“They will regroup, they will adjust, they will change their tactics,” the official said, adding that the Russian defense ministry openly admitted it would target civilian areas in Kyiv.
But the official also noted that the Russian military appears to be “risk averse” when it comes to its own troops.

“There has been in the last six days evidence of a certain risk averse behavior by the Russian military,” the official said. “You’ve seen it on the ground, where units are surrendering, sometimes without a fight. And they’ve got, a lot of these soldiers are conscripts, never been in combat before, some of whom we believe weren’t even told they were going to be in combat. So we’re just seeing evidence of a bit of risk aversion.”

My main point, in any case, is that over time Russia will survive the sanctions. The first couple years will be the harder part.

That will depend on many factors, such as Chinese support and Russia's ability to export fossil fuels.

I don't think they're going to accept being cut off from the world in so many ways for such a long time, though. Besides, the people of Russia will not accept this war on principle.

How about reality. When civilians near Mariopol held a white flag to leave yesterday, they were shot on the spot by the neo Nazi Azov. The city is in Donbass and the neo Nazis have been in control of it since the coup.

The battle to free it from Azov has now started. From what I read the city was mined completely by Azov, that way they could keep the civilians in and the Russians out. Two roads have been cleared by Russia for the people to leave, but it's doubtful Azov will allow it.

This is what happened to a man and his wife and child when they tried to leave Mariopol a few days ago.

    1. Why Russia is Invading Ukraine - both the primary & ulterior motive

    2. Russian Invasion of Ukraine Status Report
    February 27, 2022 10:30 pm by IWB
    by Chris Black

The following is a status report of what appears to be happening at this time
(2022. 02. 27 at 12:00 noon Kiev time) in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

    From The Article :
I am trying to be as realistic as possible. I mean no disrespect or animus
to either the Ukrainian side or the Russian side. I am not in any sense
questioning the bravery of the soldiers of any nation, nor do I mean to
give any offense. I live permanently in Ukraine, I love the Ukrainian people,
and my children are Ukrainian citizens. In what I am about to say, I am
trying to give a realistic, sober assessment of the current state of play.

The Russians have entered the center of Kharkiv, I know this from
eyewitness accounts of people that I know there. There is small arms
fighting, but generally light resistance. In the south, Kherson has fallen
and the Russian army seems to have captured Zaporozhia. It seems
clear that Dnipro will be reached within 3 to 5 days. At this time, Kiev
is being surrounded by Russian tanks. There is sporadic small arms
fire outside the city, but no big battles.

The Russian strategy seems to be to encircle the cities, while destroying
military installations. The vast majority of civilian infrastructure in the
areas under attack have been untouched and are functioning normally.
It also seems very clear that the Russians have used their older equipment
and less experienced soldiers in this initial assault. Very few of the high-tech
modern weaponry that the Russians possess are being used in this first push.
This would lead one to believe that the Russians want to probe and exhaust
Ukrainian defenses before bringing out top-tier men and materiel.

The Russians are being incredibly disciplined insofar as their information
management is concerned. The only information coming out of the Russians
comes directly from the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Their information so far has been 100% accurate, which I think is a deliberate
strategy. There has been a great deal of Ukrainian propaganda that turned
out to be complete fantasy, but even after these stories have been proven
to be false, people cling to them.

At the current pace of operations, the Russians will completely capture Ukraine
within 7 to 14 days. They are winning, and winning decisively. Maps comparing
the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 to this current mechanized invasion show that
the Russians are outpacing the Americans by a substantial margin. And as I said,
they are using their second-tier men and weapons, and they did not use air power
to soften Ukraine for several weeks, as the Americans did in 2003. Any claims that
the Ukrainians are winning or holding back the Russians is complete fantasy.

This is the current state of play as I perceive it at this time.
