In my years of conversing with Russians I no longer think the tail is wagging the dog. I think they are really like this. An oppressive government is their preferred environment.

I once had a parakeet. It was in it's cage all the time and I felt sorry for it, so I took it out of the cage to let it fly around. It didn't want to fly around. It kept trying to get back into the cage, because that is where it felt secure. Russians are like that parakeet.

It was a frightening prospect that in 2008, a Russian poll found “the Greatest Russian” to be Joseph Stalin

I suppose that is why Putin makes them feel all warm and fuzzy.

I think it is quite funny that when a thread opened a few months ago about Russian planes that flew next to the UK airspace, many US posters stated how weak the UK were in not doing anything about it :).

You are right about the hypocrisy. It's even worse on the South Korea North Korea border.

It is quite funny that you write that your English is not good, yet you post the above containing highly descriptive, word perfect documentary! (except for the first sentence!)

Well, since month Russian air activity in Baltic and Northern Sea is high too by the way and as info if not really noted inside the USA. But on the other side, in western media is of course nothing told about These NATO flights near Russian territory going on too.

However, a nice gag of Russian Airforce it is and I must more smile about this as being afraid or angry here. And it is a lousy sign of bad US Air Defence if a Tupolev TU-35 "Bear" can fly so close to US shores and then being so kind of "shocked". :boxing:

Gimme a freakin' break Ivan the Instigator...Imagine what you would think of a couple B-2's flying of the coast of St. Petersburg on June 12th to say happy birthday. You guys would flip out and scramble to send them away immediately. We however just sit back and watch knowing damn well that if needed we could "Eliminate" whatever threat these slow and obvious behemoths represented.
Basically, we know full well that Putin may try to bark, but cannot actually bite....and thus just kinda sit back and giggle.
