As it seems a German is the only one who is interested in Saint Patrick's Day.

I'm Scot but have Irish relatives. I have an Irish gf and we celebrate the day by painting ourselves green and sharing a quart of Dead Rabbit Irish Whisky. We've planned to celebrate an ancient Celtic love ritual for some time but have never seemed to get beyond the Dead Rabbits somehow.

I have a tradition with modifications each year. This year, the plan is to make Shepherd's pie while listening to the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, who I saw in concert once.

    Maybe watch The Quiet Man.

    Definitely a couple of Guinness

I don't know what honor of this day means. A friend of mine has a St Patrick's Day party is he has some Irish ancestry but I don't know if I have Irish ancestry so it doesn't really matter to me. It's just a fun time to get together and have a drink or two with some friends

Patrick brought Catholicism to Ireland. For them, he's a BFD.

My friend was Irish heritage doesn't really do anything that's Irish he's also not Catholic he's also part German so he's Lutheran.

Seems like it's just a good excuse to get together and drink which is perfectly legitimate.

Why would you honor a day and not St Patrick?

Your question is senseless and hair-splitting.

    Please go away.

    "So he is Lutheran"
    ?
Do you think all Germans are automatically Lutheran?

So the difference between March 17th 2022 and St Patrick is minimal I disagree one's a human in the other is a day the difference is greater than night and day.

St Patrick's Day is about shamrock hats and green beer and public intoxication it doesn't seem to be about Saint Patrick

Probably true for the non Irish. So what?

I assure you that more people shower people with presents than go to church on Christmas Day. Some do both.
