It is really an absolutely idiotic idea to think that Germans are never Catholic but always Lutheran.

Yeah that is absolutely idiotic that's why I didn't say that.

Maybe you should think about how idiotic your strawman is before you post it

I am Scots with Irish relatives.

So I have quart of Single Malt for the Scots
And a quart of Bushmill's for the Irish

It must have worked out well last year, for I woke up in Belfast. On May Day.

Yep - I enjoy St. Patrick's Day, how fun it would be to be in Ireland in a country pub in County Kerry.

I had been waiting to get my usual yearly Saint Patrick's Day card from Dublin.
And already feared that I might get none this year.
But it arrived on time today!

... these are my connections with Ireland:

Long time ago Irish missionaries brought Christianity to my part of Germany.
Among other things they founded my little home town - around the year Anno Domini 750.
Irish names like Kilian are still used as Christian names in Germany today.

And when I was in England in 1968/1969 I took the ferry from Scotland to Northern Ireland.
By hitch-hiking right across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland I had the opportunity to talk with Catholics and Protestants alternatively and learn a lot about the country first hand.
