Nobody wants Sharia law to supersede American law, nor is there any possibility that it will. The point of contention concerning Shariah is over private arbitration and mediation where two or more parties consent to resolve their disagreement in accordance with the precepts of Shariah.
You and I agree on a lot of stuff, but consider this point. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, etc... treat their women like animals. You call it "extremism", but those that are actually moderate are not the norm. The "extremists" hold all the power. I would say American Muslims and Western Muslims are far more moderate, but their a strong movements in their ranks to push the radical brand. Just look at what is going on in Europe. I am almost ready to condemn Islam as a religion unless the "moderates" take it back. It just does not seem like they are not trying or are alright with the direction which the radicals are taking them.

I am having a hard time defining Islam as anything but "extremist" anymore in virtually all places. The few exceptions are here in the U.S.A. When considering Islam, let's consider the laws and the countries where it dominates. Saudi Arabia Egypt Sudan Iran Syria The "moderate" areas are the minority not the norm. One could argue: Turkey Moroco Jordon are "moderate"... but that is being generous in many aspects. Islam is radical as a rule, not a question.
Eh, I understand what you're saying, and I see alot of it on the TV, news, etc... However, from my experience, Muslims are not bad people... All of the ones I've known, my cousin's family included, of course, were really good people... I still feel it's the extremists tainting the religion...
