I don't know about anyone else but I think Corby should have served the full sentence like everyone else. She knew the consequences of being caught trafficking drugs in Indonesia but stupidly took the risk! If her father dealt in the drug trade as has been claimed, and made more suspicious due to his close associations with people that had been convicted, this girl deserves all that came to her. Her sob story that she knows no one in the drug trade industry is especially ridiculously suspicious! I mean common. I have no pity for this girl! In fact I have no pity for anybody brain dead enough to risk smuggling drugs into Indonesia for some spare cash!

This is one of those where i am torn. On the one hand she could be innocent because only a complete moron would a) smuggle drugs INTO Asia b) have that much in such an easy to find place and c) Only smuggle weed when there are plenty of more lucrative drugs out there that are harder for customs to find.

On the other hand if she is guilty then all one can say is

"Stupidity like virtue has it's own reward"

I've had mixed emotions about this particular issue! When she was initially charged, I was hopeful that she was set up and the bastard who did it was caught! I suppose I'm more angry that such a beautiful young women with much to live for would stoop this low, if guilty I suppose, which as you point out is a reason for why she may not have done it! I hope she did do it, because the story would be way too sad, for an innocent young women to spend 10 years of the best of her life in prison, especially in Indonesia! I will donate substantially to her favourite charity if proven to be innocent.... Obviously the Indonesian system would have to be pretty crooked and maybe it is..there how's that.!

Its more shame on the media's intellect that releasing a con on parole is considered a news-worthy event that every Australian "must" know about.

What next - a drunk vomiting in the gutter after a night guzzling grog will be a media highlight event. The media have started to swim in that green slime in the bottom of the barrel with the pollies. :roflol:

How will effect anyone's life knowing if corby is or is not released from prison? :roflol:

    FFS people get it together!!

I always believed she was guilty as charged. Her family used her but then she knew what they were up to and went along with it, she got caught. The point about bringing cannabis into Indonesia is that she brought in some hydro cannabis (I think it was, long time since I've bothered with the details of the case) from South Australia which is generally thought to be far stronger than cultivated stuff and certainly stronger than Indonesian cannabis (apparently). I won't go on about her family both in Aus and in Indonesia because I don't want legal problems for me or the site. Anyway she's lucky she's out, she should cut herself off from her family, that's reason enough for her to make some money out of this so she can get rid of the bloodsuckers.

In many ways this has been good for Indonesia - it could not have bought better advertising to discourage smuggling

I think nine years is plenty for smuggling a relatively harmless drug, a drug that has widespread acceptance and is widely used, into Bali. The only reason the use and possession of hooter is illegal is because the American government insists on it.

And NOTHING to do with the fact that Indonesia is a Muslim country who do not even favour use of alcohol let alone drugs

Bali is 90% Hindu with some Buddhist and a very small population of Muslim's. There are bars all over the place and alcohol is sold everywhere. Marijuana is easily obtained, especially around the tourist areas.

Oh BB, it looks like they want you to do the dirty work again and post a link. I can't believe how this particular person shoots off rubbish that is so contrary to evidence on every issue. It amazes me.....:icon_jawdrop:

    Oops the religion is
    http://friendsofindonesia.org/indonesian-church/indonesia/religion-in-indonesia/
I had actually thought you were right as well...

BUT I do believe to simply say it is political is ignoring the point of what is fair in the country. If she is being treated the same as everybody else in the system over there, then NO it is not political. Simply saying your suspicious is nothing, show some evidence.

It matters not if you think she is guilty or not. She was found guilty under Indonesian law, get over it and move on...

Serving that amount of time for smuggling in some pot is a ridiculous sentence anyway. I would bet money that alcohol served over there has caused more harm and damage to peoples health than the pot thats been supplied over the decades.

(*)(*)(*)(*) you. No person has the right to tell another person what they can and cannot put into their own bodies. The authorities are exceeding their authority.

No, I didn't miss the point. A free person has the right to snort, smoke, or inject anything they so desire. Which means the market has a right to do what it takes to provide those products. Which means any laws that result in someone ending up in a pit after execution are unjust, and (should be) unenforceable. I don't question that such unjust laws exist. Though I do object to them on the grounds of freedom of the individual.

Well, until those laws are reversed you are a dumbass for attempting to smuggle drugs into locations where your ass will be sorry!

So you are a sheep? You accept as reasonable whatever the "authorities" say should be reasonable? Or are you a free man, living your life as you see fit?
