I was actually surprised my state certifies 1 week after the election, on 11/10... but then again, we have one of the best election systems in the country...

Trump can declare victory all he wants but if Congress disagrees, he is not the winner.

 

I don't think the point does "remain". I think there's a valuable lesson here for you about uncritically accepting whatever you hear on TV as truth. It's mostly propaganda, and should be treated with a heavy dose of skepticism.

As for the meat of the issue of counting "late" ballots: I have no objection to counting every ballot that complies with the jurisdiction's election laws. If, for example, a state says that a ballot has to be postmarked prior to the election, then ballots postmarked afterwards should not be counted, but any that arrive after but were postmarked prior should be counted. Does that seem like a fair and reasonable position to you?

 

He's just as free as every other American citizen to declare who the winner is. That's my point here. Just like ABC News and CNN and the AP have done in previous elections. That doesn't give ABC News nor CNN nor the AP nor the President's declarations the force of law, but they're free to make them, agreed?

My failure to remember exactly what two states has no bearing on the fact that there were two states for which late ballots (meaning, ballots that arrived legally but were counted in subsequent days, such as overseas military ballots) delivered a Trump victory for those states. Not everything is propaganda or fact news. Sometimes a fact is just a fact.

Of course it does. That's what everybody wants. But that's NOT what Trump wants. He is insisting that results should be known on election night and subsequent ballots EVEN IF LEGALLY POSTMARKED AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH STATE LAW should not be counted because according to him there is massive fraud (there isn't). I have no problem whatsoever with following each state's laws. Trump does.
