Scoop: Trump's plan to declare premature victory

President Trump has told confidants he'll declare victory on Tuesday night if it looks like he's "ahead," according to three sources familiar with his private comments. That's even if the Electoral College outcome still hinges on large numbers of uncounted votes in key states like Pennsylvania.

Just in case anybody wondered why Trump insisted that the results of the elections should be called on election day, here is the likely answer. Even though in most states the majority of ballots will not have been counted, he will just declare victory.

I'm convinced that this, or a variation of this is likely. This guy is capable of declaring himself the winner even if he's behind. I'm sure his people have come up with some excuse to do that.

I fear that the only scenario in which he would not do this is if Biden had an overwhelming majority on election day. But, even then, he'll find some way to wreak havoc with the election process, I'm sure.

So nobody should be surprised.

What does declare victory even mean?

 

Even if true, how about backing up and telling us why it would matter? You do know that neither the president nor the contender actually determine who will be president? There is an actual system that engages and then makes that determination, and so anyone can prematurely declare anything in regards to the presidency, and it just doesn't matter.

 

Because it would incite crazies like the ones who were seeking to kidnap the Governor of Michigan, or those who went out with guns to BLM protests and shot protesters... to do... who knows what.

And it would serve to de-legitimize a legitimate President.

Eh, given Trump's complete allergy toward any kind of evidence, all he'll need to claim he's "ahead" is some tweet saying he is. "I'm hearing I'm ahead." It's his usual game. He never considered evidence; he only considers rumors that he likes.

If he loses, I think he'll eventually leave on his own accord, though he'll deny all along that he actually lost and I don't think we'll ever get a concession speech . . . or even any actual acknowledgement that he lost in any kind of form.
