    If anyone knows about what's going on in Seattle, this isn't the least bit surprising.

    It's also fairly common in parts of Germany, Sweden, and the UK. The judges have more sympathy for the criminals (yes, including violent rapists) if they came from a "disadvantaged" background and are having "trouble culturally adjusting". Also they are very very rarely deported.
    (Typically the only thing that would cause deportation is either outright terrorism or something that really went out of its way provoke feminist ire)

    What is kind of funny to me is the history of the California migration. Californians moved north to Oregon and Washington for decades. They have gained nothing because they turned those two formerly great states into versions of California. Idaho seems to be next on the migration route. I grew up in Oregon. It was nothing at all like it is today.
