    This is not a joke. He actually said that. He was asked about a particular Bible passage which states that homosexuals should be put to death. He said that it was part of his belief system. The interviewer asked him if he would want her (she is a lesbian) to die, and he agreed.

    This has gotten a fair bit of coverage over here, and I think it'll only get worse. The worse thing is that this remark was obviously wrong, and offensive, and Craib can't even admit that his opinion came out wrong.

    A charity is supposed to help people, not condemn them - are certainly not to want gay people to die. To be fair, this is what the passage in question is referring to:

    Andrew Craib failed to mention this though, which is why his comments are so offensive.

    The Salvation Army never got a cent from me before, and I am even more determined to ensure they don't get so much as one red penny from me.

    I fully respect his right to express his opinion, opinions don't hurt anyone.
    Of course his opinion is laughable and judging by the history i wouldn't be surprise if he inhabits closets.

    The business enterprise that is the Salvation Army will be mighty annoyed at this. I suspect he will be counselled.

    The KJV is a bit worrying on this though...

    These people are superb! They can't stop pointing a gun at their own feet.

    I wonder how this nut job would feel if they were asked to do the killing part?

    The Salvos have traditionally done great work within the Australian community,, this is one religious group I actually have respect for.

    This moron has shot himself in the foot, or classic foot in mouth disease. I hope the Salvos drums him out of the organisation so they can move on and continue their good work.

    They do great work, if by that you mean charging ridiculous prices for second and third hand items, and stating that homosexuality can be cured with prayer. They won't get anything from me.

    This is one person's opinion, which doesn't actually kill gays......

    Like the Muslims who actually hang them when they're caught... but I don't recall any libs complaining about that.....

    Yes, the SA has done great work - here, they feed the homeless 24/7....

    I've often wondered where all that money goes that gets donated to them; I think all they do with the monies is to buy expensive uniforms and fancy tubas.

    I sort of feel sorry for the guy. I think after everything is said and done that he will end up as a gay rights advocate. And, possibly gay himself.

    Not likely. Keep in mind the guy is a senior citizen and didn't grow up w/all this homosexual stuff shoved in his face like it is now.....

    The passage referring to death for homosexuality may well be referring to separation, but to make such judgement based on a guy is silly. I'm not going to boycott Hollywood because of what a few choice actors have said about soldiers (a term they, and many on the left, seem to annoying use to refer to all service members). You're free to give your money to whom you please, but I find it hard to believe that if you were even the least bit inclined to donate before this single incidence would shake your inclinations.

    EDIT: and he obviously didn't have a lot of conviction on the matter
