Surprise! You're not going to believe this - I certainly didn't - a couple of days ago our foxhound treed a groundhog. Yes, you read that right - she treed a groundhog. I heard the dog raising a ruckus in the woods and when I got out there the groundhog was stuck up a small tree. Looking at your possum I now realize I should have taken a picture of it - the poor thing was so frozen with fear it wouldn't bat an eyelash. So I put the dog inside and went back out and it was still there, probably trying to figure out how it was going to get back down without injuring itself, but I pushed the tree over a little bit and it jumped down and took off. Fortunately, I haven't seen it since, which means our dog hasn't found it, either - she's Hell on the small game around here.
I have a little heeler and she is a terror I try to keep her off of small animals but she is persistent at times. Our little heeler caught a possum on the patio, she was on it before I could stop her. I thought she had killed it. My husband came up and told me the possum was ok. I said, "No. she killed it." He said,"Leave it alone it will be ok." Sure enough it was it got up and left. The term playing possum is real. A really good defense sometimes is to play dead.
She was getting her back scratched and rubbed when the picture was taken. She adores my husband and she has his attention..lol.
What a sweetie. Those eyes tell it all. My dogs love their toys. The little heeler had a toy cow and when she destroyed it from playing she would tote around a leg that was left from the destruction. I bought her a new one but it wasn't what she wanted, the old one, if only a piece, was her choice.
Out in the tall grass with a best buddy. It just doesn't get any better than that. Mine loved playing with all those balls. I'd throw some around the yard, and he'd bring them back to me. When it was time to mow, I had to pick them all up and wedge them into some tree limbs and shrubs because he'd stand in front of the mower and drop the balls expecting me to stop what I was doing and play with him. They are amazing.
A dog that loves to play is a treasure. My little heeler is a Mama's girl she loves to cuddle till it is time to play and she is all about playing. The border collie when he gets ready to play it is playtime. When he gets tired of playing he will hide his toy and look at you like I don't know what happened to it. It's gone let's go in. I have found frisbees under bushes, and anywhere he can drop them. He is funny, a smile a minute/
If my father was still alive he would do it for me. He was the bee talker. His bees knew him, it was amazing the way he handled bees. Unfortunately I didn't inherit any of his bee talents. I walked up close enough to take the picture and one bee flew close to my head and that was the all that happened, they didn't attack me. They are all about their work. People should have a bee's work ethic,
