How many times do you have to be shown? The benefits are not "dubious." There are actually health benefits to circumcision, like it or not. That is according to medical experts, and I would take their word over your word. Removing a fairly tiny piece of skin is not the equivalent of removing an organ. - - - Updated - - - Exactly. Some of these people are making a big fuss over basically nothing.
Male genital mutilation keeps America in the dark ages, like the Middle Eastern countries who practice it.
i somewhat agree. but i can accept infant male circumcision being legal, as long as a topical painkiller is applied
I have an idea. How about for every little baby being circumcised, the parents have to find one adult willing to be circumcised. That will put an end to the practice real quick.
Yes banned 100%. Its barbaric child abuse. My son isn't circumcised and neither will any future sons.
The people who voted religious freedom just sickens me. Circumcision to children should be banned. The child never chose to be that certain religion. Just imagine if a religious text said incest and marrying minors was okay. Then doing it without the child's agreement. Religious freedom right?
If I was just a baby and couldn't remember it later, so what? At my age, if you try to circumcise me you will be subjected to the wrath of me and a really angry kitten that was posted by ChrisL in another thread.
Yes, when it is imposed on people forcefully. One can argue 9/11 is religious freedom right? It says in the Quaran to kill infidels.
No, it is not. It isn't anything like female genital mutilation. It is a tiny piece of foreskin that is removed. It has no effect on a man's function or pleasure. FGM is actual mutilation with no health benefits. Maybe you need to do some research before posting untruths. Male circumcision has health benefits. Easier to keep it clean, less prone to infection (including STDs), less prone to passing infection to a sexual partner, also avoidance of complications related to the foreskin such as phimosis or balanitis.
That is incorrect. "This study confirms the importance of the foreskin for penile sensitivity, overall sexual satisfaction, and penile functioning. Furthermore, this study shows that a higher percentage of circumcised men experience discomfort or pain and unusual sensations as compared with the uncircumcised population. Before circumcision without medical indication, adult men, and parents considering circumcision of their sons, should be informed of the importance of the foreskin in male sexuality." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23374102
There are no health benefits to FGM and, in fact, some girls/women actually die from subsequent infections. That is the major difference. When it comes to male circumcision, according to the American Pediatric Association, the health benefits do outweigh the risks.
I can post a link too which supports my position. In addition to that, uncircumcised penises are less attractive and tend to collect "cheese" under the foreskin which makes them smelly. http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/circumcision/basics/why-its-done/prc-20013585 Circumcision might have various health benefits, including: Easier hygiene. Circumcision makes it simpler to wash the penis. Washing beneath the foreskin of an uncircumcised penis is generally easy, however. Decreased risk of urinary tract infections. The overall risk of urinary tract infections in males is low, but these infections are more common in uncircumcised males. Severe infections early in life can lead to kidney problems later on. Decreased risk of sexually transmitted infections. Circumcised men might have a lower risk of certain sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Still, safe sexual practices remain essential. Prevention of penile problems. Occasionally, the foreskin on an uncircumcised penis can be difficult or impossible to retract (phimosis). This can lead to inflammation of the foreskin or head of the penis. Decreased risk of penile cancer. Although cancer of the penis is rare, it's less common in circumcised men. In addition, cervical cancer is less common in the female sexual partners of circumcised men.
Another thing, I posted a link earlier in this thread (I think it was this thread) where an adult man was circumcised, and he stated that he thought sex felt better after being circumcised. He said that before being circumcised, it felt like he had a condom on during sex and masturbation, even when he did not have a condom on, or as he described it, it was like masturbating through a "bag."
I would also add that, as a female, I would prefer a circumcised man because of the appearance and cleanliness factors. The uncircumcised look is just not very attractive, IMO, and I would worry about all that "skin" and what could be lying beneath it. - - - Updated - - - You should start a poll thread, asking if women prefer a circumcised or an uncircumcised penis. It would be interesting to find out, don't you think?
well speaking as a person who has not been circumcised my informed opinion is that is an enormous load of crepe i have lots of experience and cab assure you that masterbation is NO problem at all also having the foreskin removed leaves the tip exposed to abrasion and therefore somewhat desensitized also, the inside of the foreskin is highly sensitive, so i really cannot imagine choosing to remove it f for cosmetic purposes as far as medical issues the pediatric assn does not feel there is sufficient medical reason to support routine c that said, if you want to trim your kid.... fine by me
Well if you are uncircumcised, then you don't know what it feels like to be circumcised. My information comes from an adult male who was circumcised as an adult.
why should she have the right to trim her kid? What if she wanted to "trim" your kid ? Or what if she had been your mother? I agree those "health benefits" are a giant load of crap and are just being used to try to justify the practice. Oh by the way, did you know there are more sexually sensitive nerve endings in the foreskin than the entire female clitoris? Still think it's just a useless little piece of skin?
They are not a bunch of "crap." The health benefits have been studied, and numerous respectable organizations have come up with the same conclusions. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it has no health benefits. I think you are getting your information from one of those "anti-circumcision movement" websites, which are extremely biased. And your information is wrong. http://www.alternet.org/9-interesting-things-you-may-not-know-about-clitoris The clitoris contains at least 8,000 sensory nerve endings. To put that into perspective, the penis has about 4,000. That makes this tiny area the most sensitive part of a woman’s erogenous zone. And while the clitoris is quite small, its powerful sensations can spread across a woman's pelvic area by affecting 15,000 other nerve endings.
The clitoris, has 8,000 nerve endings. The glands of the penis (that's the tip) has 4,000 nerve endings, but the foreskin has between 10,000-20,000 nerve endings, so as you can see, a normal intact penis has the most nerve endings.
