"In The Great Green Arkleseizure We Trust."

"In He Who Must Not Be Named We Trust."

    "In Santa Clause We Trust."

    "In Smurfs We Trust."

    "In Bigfoot We Trust."

Sounds rather silly, doesn't it, using mythological creatures and characters of literature as a subject of affinity for a nation. Perhaps it will sound less silly if we use other religious beings?

    "In Allah We Trust."

    "In Xenu We Trust."

    "In Horus We Trust."

    "In Cerberus We Trust."

"In The Greek Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses We Trust."

No, still seems pretty silly. Maybe it needs to be more vague and less demonstrable to be effective.

    "In Magic We Trust."

    Sound good?

Go ahead and take your pick, as it makes no difference to me... worship whoever you want, and use whatever that god provides to you.

Religion does bother me, yes. However, that's not the point of this thread, this thread asked, "should 'in god we trust' be taken off us currency," and those are some of my reasons why I think they should. It's a silly statement that holds no meaning.

Personal opinion of me and not the discussion noted.

The "world" doesn't "seem off" to me. Why would you think it does?

Red herring. I never said my logic should rule, much less over another. However, since you brought it up, why do you think your logic should rule?

A bit dramatic, don't you think? Not only have you not read but a fraction of a percent of what I've written, but I've not asked for any attention (especially not worldwide attention.) I've simply made a comparison of one unprovable myth to other fictional things that have never been proven to be true.

No, The Constitution of the United States of America was not "written for religious white men." If you think it was then I encourage you to read it and find out you are quite mistaken.

The best part about a religious statement on government property is that I don't like it? I ... well, I'm a little creeped out, quite frankly, that you invest this much emotion into my opinion.

So which is it? People like me can't change it, or we won't see a change in our lifetime? Also, I find it really humorous that you think you can predict the future.

I know, you believe your god is different from other gods. I know, you believe your faith is different than other faiths. I know, you believe your mythological being that you cannot demonstrate is more special than other mythological beings that cannot be demonstrated.

You think those characters I mentioned are from a DVD collection? Perhaps if you were educated about history, culture, religion, and so on you might understand where knowledge comes from.

Mmmmkay, tell me the "philosophy" behind you disagreeing that "In Unicorns We Trust" should be on our currency.

No, that is the natural order of things. No one could have planned not to be born, nor can anyone plan not to die, or if they do plan it they're in denial of reality. It happens, and no amount of unsubstantiated assertions to the contrary will change that.

You think that because I have an opinion, I am frustrating myself? Can I assume then that because you have an opinion that you are frustrating yourself?

I enjoy spending money too sometimes. Not sure what your point is about using currency.

May I suggest you talk more about the topic instead of the posters? The majority of your post addresses me, not the topic, and all of your points about me are invalid.

    Nebulous.

Books don't possess 'ranks'... and expecting me to treat it as such violates multiple parts of the Constitution, as does treating me with suspicion if I don't.

Yeah... like I said, christianity is an absolute dictatorship; or can your god be voted out of office? Checks and balances? How about inalienable rights? Nope... it's his way, or eternal suffering.

Wait... I take that back: at least in an absolute dictatorship you can die and escape the tyranny.

Ok... where in the hell did you learn about government and civics?

Sure they do. Go to a public library, and try to check out (carry out) their reference books. Those reference books carry such a 'rank' that they are not allowed outside the library building. Looks like you are wrong again.

Don't say that out loud. They may start referring to your group associations as the 3rd Rike. You don't want them using the ugly "N" word. (NAZI)

If that is your concept of a good, not godly, place to put your trust then it is no wonder it is said that America is getting ready to walk off of a steep cliff.

What is a steep cliff or slope
What is a steep cliff or slope that seperates plateaus? an escarpment. What is a steep cliff? a hill which is really really narrow(*)…

You know what you are doing. You are intending to inflict jabs from your key board. Don't expect pity here. No pity parties....! No playing violins....!

You can't control how others respond. Sorry.

This is often stated but it is delusional if we compare the 10 Commandments to US law and the US Constitution. Not a single one of the 10 Commandments are included in the US Constitution and laws related to several are prohibited by the Constitution. Let us simple review them.

1.You shall have no other gods before me.

Laws that require following the Christian god would violate the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution.

2.You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Laws that prohibited the making of idols or the worship thereof would violate the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution.

BTW I've always found this commandment to be rather bazaar because it states that god is a jealous god which is a petty human emotion. Is the god of Abraham really so petty?

3.You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

Laws that enforced this would violate the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution's protection of freedom of speech.

4.Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

There are no laws in the United States that prohibit working on any of the days of the week.

5.Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

There are no laws in the United States that require compliance with this commandment.

    6.You shall not murder.

Yes, we have laws that prohibit murder but not because it is found in the 10 Commandments but instead because murder is a violation of the unalienable Right to Life as established by the Declaration of Independence.

    7.You shall not commit adultery.

There are no laws in the United States that prohibit adultery.

    8.You shall not steal.

Yes, we have laws that prohibit theft but not because it is found in the 10 Commandments but instead because theft is a violation of the unalienable Right of Property that the government has a responsibility to protect based upon the Declaration of Independence.

9.You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Yes, we have laws that prohibit perjury, libel and slander and once agian this based upon the Declaration of Independence where the government has the responsibility to protect the unalienable Rights of the People and not on the 10 Commandments. In general lying is not against the law.

10.You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

There are no laws related to "coveting" but only related to theft of a persons property. Of course slavery has been abolished so there are no more "manservants" or "maidservants" that are possessions of one's neighbor.

Once again I find that this strange because the Bible apparently endorses slavery in this commandment. Based upon the 10 Commandments one would have to assume that the god of Abraham is both petty by being jealous and endorses human bondage (slavery).

Ultimately we have 7 of the 10 Commandments that are not a part of US law and some would actually violate the US Constitution and only 3 that are coincidentally addressed by the 10 Commandments but the reason behind those three all relate to the protections of the unalienable Rights of the Individual which the Declaration of Independence states is the responsibility of government to protect.

Oh NO! Not the old 'white flag' routine... you should know by now that the illusion of your so-called 'white flag' is just that... an illusion that frequents your mind. Take a couple of pills and try to get rid of that illusion.

I don't think that it would matter one iota, if it were taken off or left. It has no effect whatsoever on the behavior of the American populace.

Its not the American population that is the issue, the issue is the government promotion of a religious belief over others.

    The government should be secular.

Anything the government does these days is usually a deterrent for the citizen to follow.
