Should these persons be in jail and paying tens of thousands in fines and have criminal records?

she was found guilty of what she did though, she seems to show no remorse, that should be taken into account during sentencing

I like how they are trying to compare someone that made a plea deal getting less time than someone that did not, that is the way it has always worked, if you make a plea deal, you will most likely get less time.... or in the case of murder, may get lwop vs death

Ok. Yes when the property is closed, you can't break in. But in this case, the door was open and she was ESCORTED IN BY THE POLICE. It wasn't closed.

It's disheartening that so many people are fine with someone being arrested when NO CRIME WAS COMMITTED, but because it's felt that the person has the wrong political views/voted for the "wrong" candidate. This is the purest definition of fascism. Everyone, Democrats and Republicans alike, should be outraged. Because fascism doesn't stop in one place.

No they don't. Not one of those leftist arrested for looting or arson or anything else ever muttered one word of remorse. The capitol police invited her in she left through another exit ten minutes later hell on the basis you can't even legitimately make a case for trespassing.

Correct. What does that have to do with all the people convicted here ?

Because you cannot put people in jail and fine them exorbitant sums because you don't like their politics. And that's what happened here.

Yes! The White House is also public. They get visitors all the time. Just not in the private residence part.

Only according to you and the other righties/Trump supporters. These people were found guilty by juries of their peers.

I bet you don’t even think crimes were committed on 1/6. You people need to fess up and admit that what happened that day way wrong.

I support the process whether it leads to conviction or not, and I support the appeals process as well. Its not hiding behind anyone to expect a jury to make this call after a trial, not you and not me. There are rules of evidence on which testimony and evidence is allowed or suppressed. if the rules of discovery were not obeyed, that is a matter for an appelate court to weigh, not me or you. if there is newly discovered exculpatory evidence, that same process exists. Stop pretending you know more than the jury sitting in court day after day, when you what you purport to 'know' is actually different from what the jury is supposed to see and hear. They were given instructions on the specifics of the statutes and access to direct testimony and evidence. You were not there.

So is she allowed to walk in when she pleases if they decide to shut it down for security reasons?

Some venerate violent criminals who attack outnumbered police while attempting to overthrow a democratic election, and then they show their contempt for America's system of justice and public-spirited citizens who serve on juries.

More than 1,350 Trump goons have been charged in connection with the Jan. 6 attack, and prosecutors have secured more than 950 convictions.

Trump goons are still being convicted and sentenced.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has handed down her harshest Jan. 6 sentence to date — five-and-a-half years — to Scott Miller, a Maryland man and former Proud Boys leader who assaulted multiple officers in a violent attempt to breach the Capitol.

Chutkan based her sentence, delivered on Friday, in part on Miller’s “aggressive” actions at the Capitol but also on his private writings that called for racial and religious violence against minorities and Jews. She said the evidence of his “violent ideology” — his embrace of Nazism and his purported belief that Washington, D.C., residents should be executed — troubled her despite Miller’s insistence that he had disavowed those beliefs soon after Jan. 6.

Chutkan’s 66-month sentence narrowly edges two 63-month sentences she handed down to Robert Palmer and Mark Ponder, who similarly joined some of the most egregious violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6: the brutal hand-to-hand combat at the mouth of the building’s Lower West Terrace tunnel.

Chutkan, who is in line to preside over the criminal trial of Donald Trump for his bid to subvert the 2020 election, emphasized her belief that the Jan. 6 mob attack was “close to as serious a crisis as this nation has ever faced.”

She lauded officers who, though outnumbered and ill-equipped, fought to protect the building.
“They faced horrendous circumstances. They were assaulted, spat on, beaten, kicked, gassed,” Chutkan said. “They are patriots.”

Sigh...seems like we're going round and round on this. The Capitol was not shut down for security reasons or any other reason. THE DOORS WERE OPEN. The Capitol police allowed people in. The Capitol is a public building owned by all U.S. citizens (as well as Pelosi and Cheney). The woman had every right to be there. No crime was committed. I'm finished.

If the doors were open and people were freely allowed to go in as they wish, why were there police barriers at the Capitol and why did trump adoring dipshits break the doors and windows to gain entry at different areas?

And yes, she broke the law and deserved what came her way. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
