Should Trump be held in pretrial detention?

IMO, Trump will never see the inside of a jail cell. Biden will pardon him before that. I find it highly unlikely with the deep cognitive dissonance of about 70 million Americans that support him. He is also unfortunately a member fo a very exclusive club of only 46 in the world.

He's getting the same right of every criminally charged defendant. He's has the financial means to have full due process in the criminal justice system. The opposite scenario is, there are a half-dozen, or so bodies of New York state troopers laying dead on the lawn and the Secret Service is inside reloading, getting ready to repel a second wave.

 

Due process requires that the charges be legitimate.

 

They are, that's why the trial continues. Judge/ jury will dismiss or sign off.
