I believe it still is not LEGAL everywhere in USA, is that correct?
So in places where it is not legal, what do they do? Do they charge them? are they pre-pardoned?
I'm just curious how that would work.

like i said, smart move for biden

I still would like to know the answer to my question though.

His pardon only applied to federal convictions. Localities can make up their own minds. Since it only applies to federal convictions it would have no effect on local or state convictions.

There are ZERO people in federal prison for simple possession. No one benefits, and nothing has changed as far as I can tell. It's just a play for votes in November.

The 6,500 people who will be released from federal prison do not believe this is a stunt. I'm quite happy for them, and am happy that someone did this. I care not that it's a good political move.

Biden thinks he can create a single issue voter bloc for pot smokers... it's kind of a joke. Especially since the Congress still has pot listed in its federal list of controlled substances. I assume this is an entirely illegal and unconstitutional act by this president.

    I'm still curious
how much weed does one need to possess to get federal charges?

The president can pardon anyone for anything at any time. Surely you know this. It’s not a secret power. It’s right there in the constitution.

I knew I was jumping the gun in thinking Biden actually finally did something good

Surely you can recognize that Biden is creating a defecto law by his actions, which is unconstitutional. Until congress repeals the law, or amends the law, Biden cannot simply waive fiat at it and undo an act of congress.

He never said they couldn't. You are cherry picking. Not very productive

Your complaint is that the president is using one of his constitutional powers. Boo hoo.

That was never MY complaint. Mine was a simple question about people that get caught with it in places its still illegal. my question was answered.
He is trying to talk about other effects this might have.
I don't recall him saying the president cannot do pardons
    just sayin

drluggit is making the assumption the pardons are illegal and unconstitutional so it sounds like he is saying a president can't pardon anyone for anything

I am not. I am saying that he is trying to invalidate the federal law by using his executive power to do so. I know, details, but at some point, you have to stop lying about it...

What proof do you have that the people to be released are drug dealers? It sounds more like wishful thinking on your part than any first hand knowledge.

It is his right to do so. Can you point to a post where you complained about Trump pardoning people?

Read the Fin law and discover who those incarcerated actually are for once.
