Saudi sisters found dead in Hudson River were alive when they entered By Daniel Uria Investigators said two Saudi sisters who were found dead in the Hudson River were alive when they entered the water. Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Investigators in New York said two Saudi sisters found dead in the Hudson River last week were alive when they entered the water. The New York Police Department said the sisters, 22-year-old Rotana Farea and 16-year-old Tala Farea, were dressed similarly in black leggings and fur-trimmed jackets, with their feet and ankles bound together by duct tape when they were found in the river. The cause of their death remained unclear. It smells like an honor killing, but they are also considering suicide.
How terrible! They were discovered already a week ago. The bodies of two women were found washed up from the Hudson River off the Upper West Side in New York, Oct. 24, 2018. (WABC) They seemed to have lived in Virginia, and one sister was reported missing already in August. Suicide is impossible, which leaves honor as the only alternative. Unfortunately the only 'honor' among these people belonged to the victims.
They had it under wraps for a week, I remember when it first happened, and then everyone shut up, probably doing police work. Apparently they still have nothing, or at least not enough for an arrest. The biggest thing for "Honor Killing" here in the states, is being Un-Islamic, which can be anything, talking to an American boy, not wearing a hijab, etc, at the discretion of the father. The killing is usually done by the father or brother.
According to the story they were duct taped. If it was suicide no duct taping would be necessary. https://abc7ny.com/new-photos-of-sisters-found-duct-taped-along-hudson-river/4589242/
Very sad two very attractive young women. The police are checking all nearby cameras to see if any may have recorded anything related to their deaths.
In dual suicides, from what I've read, sometimes there's a fail safe method built in. In case one loses his nerve. Might be wrong.
I seriously doubt these two girls duct taped themselves. They could have just held hands and jumped rather than going to all that trouble. But if people are desperate enough to avoid the likelihood of Muslim honor killings then any alternate explanation might do.
I'm not trying to dodge the possibility of it being an honour killing, which is a ghastly, cruel practice, but sometimes it's too easy to choose the more horrible option.
I agree. And so often these 'honor' killings are done by family. The deaths of these young women are a mark against humanity. I'm disgusted, as are most people, and hope the SOBS who did this are brought to a swift and merciless justice.
If it was a family related killing and they are from Virginia, why take them to New York to accomplish it???
I just don't see any two human beings who want to commit suicide agreeing to duct taping themselves to the degree of being unable to swim and then jumping in any water, much less the Hudson river. Jumping off a skyscraper, maybe, because it's quick, but not two people agreeing on the suffering by drowning route.
Perhaps these young women didn't want to be Muslims either. They certainly did not win. God bless them.
They were living in a free country with established laws and freedoms. There shouldn't be any Muslim/Arab thing anywhere in the free world.
Their ovaries contain hundreds of eggs. It is a population time bomb. These eggs will grow up wanting their 72 virgins.
That's correct. It's hard to have any respect for a Muslim in a free country. Nobody is holding a sword over their heads. In this case however, these girls would need to leave their families.
New York City police have released the first photos of two Saudi sisters whose bodies were found duct-taped together near the Hudson River as authorities continue to investigate their mysterious deaths. Tala Farea, 16, and Rotana Farea, 22, had been living in Fairfax, Virginia with their mother, but Rotana had moved to live in New York. The family are Saudi nationals from Jeddah.
