I found this quote today and thought it is interesting so I am passing it on to you.

I believe that we would be happier to have a personal revolution in our individual lives and go back to simpler living and more direct thinking. It is the simple things in life that make living worthwhile, the sweet fundamentals; things such as love and duty, work and rest and living closer to nature

Quit your whining, or you will have to prepare breakfast from now on, although I am still waiting for my coffee, so I won't hold my breath.

LOL, it was a long-distance romance... the song was just wishful thinking. Great guy, no regrets... I worked for one airline, he worked for another. One of those things that burns so hot, it couldn't possibly last very long. ;)

You'll have to read all about it when my book comes out. :omg:

Happy Friday, y'all! Did the hunting & gathering routine this morning... didn't get started as early as I planned and it was 103 by the time I got home... with a car full of groceries. Nice to have a handy GS at home... couldn't have done it without him!

Watermelons were on sale at Aldi's for $1.29. Summer's last gasp (hopefully!)

Yesterday and today I've been visiting a local Beer Festival to sample a few of the Ales. For those who have never seen what a UK Beer Festival looks like, it's not the kind of German foaming mugs, long tables, leather shorts and oompah band nonsense, but just rows of barrels of different Real Ales (over 100 at this one, I believe) and Real Ciders (about 40) to drink. In fact, it looks like this (this was very early on so it was very quiet - the hall fills up later on, and there are also 2 large side rooms with places to sit, drink and discuss the beers):

Between us (3 of us yesterday, 2 of us today) we sampled quite a number of ales (obviously trying each others as well as our own, and comparing notes on them) and a couple of the ciders too. There's a .pdf list of the ones that were there here.

If you ever come over to the UK, you should really try to get to one of these events (they happen all over the UK regularly, some smaller than this one, some bigger). You pay a few pounds to get in, for which you recieve a programme containing the tasting notes (the ones that are in the .pdf file above), and a commemorative half pint glass to take home with you. You then buy tokens (to save them having to take money at all the bars), and pay between about £1:20 and £1:60 per half pint (served in your commemorative glass, obviously!) of whichever drinks you fancy (they will give small samples to taste for free if you're in doubt about whether a particular beer will suit your tastes).

Definately an experience not to be missed, although I doubt you'll find them mentioned in the usual tourist info places!

ETA - Take no notice of the revoltingly colourful pictures lining the hall - they come with that particular hall, not with beer festivals!

I love the paintings! Beautiful hall! Looks like quite an event! Here we have lots of micro-breweries where they offer sample trays of different beers. Found this chart showing how their popularity has grown... and just realized it comes pretty close to following our national debt! LOL, bad economy? Drink more beer!!!

Thx, darlin. Food looks good, but that tablecloth clashes with the wallpaper. I'll have a screwdriver and eggs. Worrying about the folks on the East Coast.. vodkee should help! (me anyway!)

Thx for the breakfast, OT... but think I'll pass on the dancing, Shangrila! Too early... and too hot. (broken record, eh?)

Enjoy your Sunday, folks! Hope everybody escaped the storm unscathed! If you live in NYC, guess you'll have the day off tomorrow, unless you plan to walk to work! Let the clean-up begin!!! ;)

C'mon you fuzzy duddies. With enough Sangria on board, everyone can dance a flamenco. We even have it 'on the rocks' for smartie.
