Corned beef is simmering and a cheesecake is in the oven. Im wondering if a kiwi shamrock on top of the cheesecake will be a mistake. I think the pretzel crust....lol...may be a mistake enough.

I'm glad you mentioned that - we made some corned beef and cabbage (and potatoes) stew a couple weeks ago and we've got leftovers in the freezer.

I think I know what we're having for dinner tonight...

Using a handline, in fact. Same one pictured with the sail cat. 60 pound mono line, 60 pound steel leader and 1 1/2 ounce sinker.

I removed the hook with pliers ..... IF they did not swallow it. 4 more sharks spit the hook right at the docks edge. You can hold the smaller ones behind the head with one hand. I dont use a gaff though I do use my powerful .22 pellet gun to pop them in the head if I'm keeping them. Then gut and get on ice, right away.

I do keep my distance from that mouth and sometimes wear welders gloves.

That was the biggest I caught thus far, maybe 25 pounds, all the rest were 15-20. I did shoot that one before raising it up on the deck. Any bigger than that and it's a 2 man job and a real .22 would not hurt.

You can step on a shark's fins to remove a hook, that head aint moving if you do that.

I cast net tilapia a bit smaller than this for bait. Sometimes cut bait.[IMG]

It must be in the stars.
I was thinking about him a few days ago. I wondered how his wife and children were doing. I bet there are a lot of grandbabies now. He was absolutely one of a kind. The kind of person you meet and never forget. He was that special and on a whole different level than most people. He'd love the fact I just said that lol.
Every time I had a less than demure moment in private or back here he would pull me aside and say, You were doing really good until this part or give me a few minutes to decode the (********) to figure out what you just said. I miss him. What a shock to find out he was gone. Last time I spoke to him he was helping his son move. Never said he was sick other than his hip bothering him.

They do look pretty similar but no, pretty sure this was a bird of paradise.

    Here's a pic of a large one.
