LOL, I'm glad to hear somebody else say 'gonna tape' something. I said that on some thread the other day and a guy said, "taped??? are you ancient??"

Um, in technological terms, yes. I still have to use 2 remote controls.

And even though amber is quite the techno-rat around here, she swears the remote for the 'magic TV', she won't even touch.
It skeers her.

 

So, um... what do you say besides 'tape'? Tivo? Tweet? Twitter? DSL? HDT? What???????

 

I absolutely loathe the whole concept of "twitter" not to mention that it has taken off, that "news" channels are using Twitter as a source. (!) (and no, I'm not talking about any one "station". Most of 'em do it. "station" that dates me too.)

Sometimes I'll catch myself saying "I DVR'ed it" because of course, with technology, we can just make up words. (see above)

And by the way.....everyone else that wanders in....I'd like y'all all to know that as I type this, the Rangers are getting spanked all to hell and gone and it's clearly SMW's fault.

And the Republicans. (though she won't tell me how y'all are doing it.)

 

Here's what drives me nuts. You know I work downtown... nearly every person walking down the street or getting on the elevators are looking down at phones. People sit in the lobby and text or talk... people walk in with me at 6:15 am tallking to somebody on the friggin phone. WHO TALKS ON THE PHONE AT 6:15 AM?

I hate cellphones. I have one because I'm forced to have one, but I refuse to have it permanently attached to my hand.

It's ridiculous... who are these people talking to... each other????

 

I like cell phones 'cause I love me some Metro PCS.
Been a customer of theirs since they first opened up in the Dallas area.
It literally is a flat rate and I can call my out of state sisters, I can talk all I want, text all I want and voila! I never have to worry about going "over" my minutes.

All of amber's kids have cell phones and the two boys have "Smart" phones.
(Her eldest man-child is going to Cal-Tech. Pretty sure they're gonna be able to teach him how to launch planes off his "Smart" phone.)

However, I do not like, nor need, a cell phone that can hook me up to the computer, watch movies, read a book, or take freakin' video movies!

And here's something else I don't get.
Big ol' campaign (Public safety thing) warning against texting while driving.(which I agree is stupid)
Yet, the police of almost any 'normal' sized city have computer terminals in their front seat!!!

Local channel did a story about this recently.

Also, I'm gonna go watch about 3 episodes of Hardcore Pawn b/c it's one of those shows that's just so, so, so bad it's good.
And mebbe it'll take my mind off the poor, poor Rangers.

Ignore the phone zombies, look for those who look at the wonderful life around them. They still exist, although soon to be on the endangered species list.
Oh, the looks I get when walking around humming or singing.

 

Morninhg Shangrila. I am with you on this one. I do not own and never will own a cell phone or anything else that even resembles one. Heck I didn't even get my first computer until about 4 years ago. I grew up without these gadgets and I still don't see the need for them. We didn't even get our first TV until I was about 7 years old and then there were only a couple of channels that you could watch. We had to much fun playing outside to be bothered with those things. So just call me an ancient one or a dinosaur and you would be right on both accounts.

 

Well, I have to have one of them thingers, but only use it when necessary. No need to inform others on every move I make.

 

Howdy y'all.......I was forced, kicking and screaming, to come back to work today. I know within my heart that I was supposed to be independently wealthy. Not sure which wrong turn screwed that up for me.

Oh well.......life is good. Had a great few days off doing not much other than catching up on stuff around the house, reading (real books), and chilling out. Hope everybody had a good holiday.

Highs only supposed to be in the 70's by weekend....can't wait!!!
