Viv, its a game of chicken in this joint. Smartie puts out the crap first. You have to lull her into thinking its OK to bring out the good stuff.

That first batch of eggnog was from last year. I saved you a mega Scott tissue day. Im all mate like that.

can't have egg nog due to lactose intolerance, macdonalds has a good eggnog milkshake around this time.

speaking of macdonalds, the new spicy machicken sandwich for $1 is great, try it sometime.

I'm thinking he ran off with Kimi & Mary. I knew all that 'nice guy' stuff was a bunch of bologna. He left us for two other women. ~cries~

No way. Kimi's married to Davey Crockett, 'ef said and Mary is running like gazell somewhere.

I say he's smokin' some hot toddy somewhere and will come up for air sooner or later.

    Be Italian! lol

    Here's my take on Egg Nog.Personally I like the stuff.But I don't trust it.Like going
to Las vegas and Gambling.I'm sure it can be fun but there's ALWAYS a catch.
Drink one ounce TOO much Egg Nog and you'll pay the price.
Plus it's a gimmick drink.Like Mint Juleps at the kentucky Derby.

I sit back and smile thinking about this.

My sister, God rest her soul, always prepared stuff ahead of time. I use to tease her so bad about serving leftovers to company because she would make it ahead of time. Her house would be decorated so beautiful and the table set so perfect for all the holidays. Me, I always waited till that day to cook and bake and it drove her insane. She would call on the holiday and say what are you doing? Oh, Im making a pie and cooking the turkey and stuffing. Ill do the vegetables later and set the table a little bit before everyone piles down here. lol I could hear her say to me. You know it would be a lot easier if you would start early. You wouldnt be rushing around and I'd say, no rush. I got it all under control.

Ill bet if they cook turkeys in heaven that turkey is already cooked and the table is set beautiful for the family.

Today, Im making the pumpkin pie and pizzells. You just know my sister is smiling somewhere. lol

Good memories, falena. I bet your sister is smiling down on you for remembering her.

Speaking of memories... these are not so good.

Guess we'll have a crowd of sightseers downtown today... when I came thru the triple underpass at 6:20 this morning, there were already people milling around Dealey Plaza. Guess since the actual day is tomorrow, they're getting an early start. Nov 22, 1963. Sad day for Big D. Sad day for America.

Ok tell me something. From the window Oswald was in, in your opinion could he have gotten off those shots like that in a moving vehicle? Ive never seen the actual physical location but from the pictures it looks like it was close to impossible.

Yeah, it's not only possible, it's exactly what happened. The car was barely moving. No way can you 'speed' thru that location... he was a sitting target.

The most amazing thing to me... there are ALWAYS tourists in that area. Not sure what they get out of walking across that grassy knoll, but it's definitely a must-see for out-of-towners.

Its so hard to tell from just looking at the pictures.

If I ever came to Dallas I wouldnt think to go to the spot Kennedy was shot. If we passed it and I was told this is the spot, Id be interested but thats it.

    lol
    Check this out.
They have a huge fair up this way once a year. Maybe similar to the Texas State fair but its a bunch of states that combined have the fair. Its pretty big like I said. Anyway, they have this exhibit with Kennedy stuff. A replica of the car he was riding in when he was shot. Things of that nature. So, Im looking at everything and saw a doodle pad the President was writing things on when he was on his way to Dallas. I thought it was so cool. So I go get my Honey and said, you have to see this. Its the pad Kennedy wrote on right before he was shot.

    This is what I heard.

Yeah thats great but I have to show you something really impressive. Now Smartie Im thinking, what the hell could be more impressive in this building than the pad Kennedy doodled on? We go around a corner and to an exhibit with a cow sculpted out of 1000lbs of butter. I was like, for Christ sakes you have to be kidding me.
We still laugh about that to this day.

Hey! Cows carved outta butter are IMPORTANT!!!

And a helluva lot less controversial!

Our butter sculpture this year was too sad... a bunch of kids standing next to Big Tex's boot, looking up at him.

Good thing THAT Big Tex didn't burn. Can you imagine all that butter going up in flames??

Why, it'd look just like Ange's house!

(wonder where Smokey is these days?)

Sad thing about Big Tex. Are they going to rebuild it identical? I cant imagine them not replicating it as close as possible?

    Yeah butter cows are important.

"Imagine the hours it took to make that?"
"Yeah, but its the pad Kennedy wrote on. On the plane. On the way to Dallas.
"Someone put an awful lot of effort into that butter cow. He doodled a few numbers. Big deal. Its not the Mona Lisa or some secret code."

    Im laughing.

I dont know where Smokey is. I hope everything is alright with him.

Last year?? The poisoning now is it...

Do people eat McDs anymore, you are so unPC. I don't know if you heard anything about the Starbucks tax evasion scandal here, but although they didn't technically evade tax and it is all legal, people have formed the opinion they and all the other internationals are avoiding tax in an unethical way. This has resulted in empty Starbucks everywhere you go. So no McDs and no Starbucks, but where do we eat now?

    You think you know someone...

What's on earth is a pizzell?

How long is it since then, F? Not a great time of year for a few of us, tbh. However, the one thing you know is that your sister wants you to enjoy life and enjoy this season... A quiet moment... and then into the fray. x

This is the one time of year when I'd like to be US. I'm not happy that you get two Christmas type family holidays per year and we only get that lovely time with family once. Enjoy all

I have been to Dallas but never to the Grassy Knoll.. It would never occur to me to go. Course I was too busy reading the map trying to find the nearest exit.. Wow, Dallas is a busy town.

A cow carved out of butter..now that is impressive.. wonder what they did with all the butter.

    Pizzelle
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pizzelle
Im making the pumpkin pie for home and I have to go to two different family gatherings so I figured to make make three trays. Two for them and one for us.

My sister died a little over a year ago. Fell asleep and never woke up. We were stunned. Still are. She was so vibrant. Its still so hard to believe sometimes. She's with our dad now and the rest of the family who passed. Thats the one comfort.
You pull your boot straps up and walk forward with memories.

I always worry they'll have a power outage and all that work will end up in a big greasy puddle.

LOLOLOL... now THIS is a butter cow.

See there... we both have emotional hangups about butter cows. I worry about 'em melting and you wonder where they go when they leave there??

Geesh, whatta topic. How did this happen? f-a-l-e-n-a

You can't avoid the area if you enter downtown Dallas from the west. Here's the layout... green = JFK's route. I drive in on Commerce and out on Elm every work day. If somebody's thinking of bumping me off... the Texas School Book Depository is no longer accessible. Go figger. ;)

It's a downtown kinda tourist attraction... along with the West End, Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Gardens and a new billion dollar park they built over a freeway for all the yuppies who live downtown. And of course, the original Neiman Marcus store... worth the trip all by itself!

OK now... butter cows and Dallas are topics in the Holiday Bar.

Are we hard up for Thankgiving stories, or what? [IMG]

Now those fancy cookies look GOOD! Little ruffles on 'em and everything.

Might have to try making those myself. Do you have a Ronco Pizzelle Maker or do you do it on the stove?

Saw the Kennedy talk, I never put it together but I just realized he was shot in Texas.

Happy Thanksgiving eve. The turkey was pardoned by the President, he will live out his days at george washingtons estate in mount vernon.

He's MIA. AWOL is more like it since he didn't ask permission to leave. :(

You cookin for a crowd tomorrow, Daise? What I thought would be 3-4 has turned into 6-7... so we'll see. I may end up sending somebody on a mission for a ham or something. Event planning ain't one of my strong points.
