Galveston's beautiful now. Hurricane Ike did a huge amt of damage to all those piers off Seawall... but most have rebuilt and now everything's shiny and new! The beaches are VERY clean and believe it or not, the water was actually clear (for the gulf). Here's the views from the balcony of my hotel room. Definitely a nice place to visit... and still reasonably priced... at least after Sept 1!

All the jetties were destroyed, so they've all been rebuilt, from bldg granite. And paved! Much nicer than the old days.

    Howdy y'all.
Love the pics of Galveston and breakfast.
Close your eyes, imagine you grab a chair right there at the shore, and slowly sip a good cup of coffee. Then some hunky dude brings you this great breakfast.
    Yup, that'll do.

Sorry, but I'm not bringing you your breakfast. Get up out of your chair and get it yourself.

Looks great--I never saw it but 'brown' at Galveston! Yeah those rock piers going out into the gulf were both dangerous to walk as well as trapped dead, smelly stuff.

BTW, I keep hearing all this 'woofing' about being from Texas, so take "my" test to find out:

    "How Texan are you?"

    Answer these questions:

    1) Have you been to the Cotton Bowl?

    2) Have you eaten a Fletcher's corn dog at the Texas State Fair?

    3) Have you been to the Astrodome?

    4) Have you been to the Alamo?

    5) Have you drunk a Pearl beer?

    6) Have you been to at least 2 of these 2 lakes: Lake Whitney, Possum Kingdom, and Lake of the Pines?

    7) Have you been to Lubbock? (unless your TT, no reason to go there!)

8 ) Have you been to San Angelo (middle of no where, no reason to go there either!)

    9) Have you been to Brownsville (most southern tip of TX)?

    10) Have you been to NASA Houston at the JSC?

    11) Have you toured the Battleship Texas?

    12) Have you been to Big Bend?

    Extra Credit:

    a) Have you swam in the Rio Grande?

    b) Have you been to Mule Shoe, TX (TX/NM border, and no reason to be found dead there!)

If you dont say 'Yes' to at least 6 of the Q's, you need to start heading north of the Red River right now---you are an escaped Okie..!!

The Redskins are jerks..they were laying for him because they knew he was hurt. Plus, did you hear him talk at the end about all those missed snaps from the center? The Redskins were calling the cadence from their side and confusing our center, thinking Romo was calling for the snap. I LOVE beating the Redskins!!

Not bad (I put San Angelo in for you)

And just as most native Texans have never been to Big Bend; here in AZ, many/most native Arizonans havnt been to the Grand Canyon!!

Forgot to tell what getting 100% on my test wins----the winner gets to move to Arizona, God's country! (for Texans who are atlas challenged, that's 'way far' West Texas. ) [IMG]

LOL...I wondered how San Angelo made the list!

My brother moved to Arizona 20 years ago, too. He went to the desert, I came to the mountains. West Texas is home, though.

    Good to see ya, OD!

    W. Texas, mountains?!! Maybe some around Big Bend, but TX always tries to annex CO and claim their mountains!! My S-I-L and daughter (born in Dallas) live in S. CO and have to 'put up with' the TX visitors year round---snow skiing winter/elk hunting fall/fishing summer. CO's like the $$$ Texans spend but dont understand the loud, bragging, Texas pride.[IMG]

I kid my S-I-L (native CO) and often show him the 1800's map of TX that has CO in their 'panhandle" [IMG]

BTW, AZ has many mtns, some desert, but also 2 snow skiing resort areas (Snow Bowl in Flag, and the White Mtns around the Apache Reservation)..

I cant stand the humidity in TX and am a natural desert rat.....

[Thx, and ....Oh, BTW, been gone the past year collecting data for writing my new book that answers the question, "Why are Women Fickle?"][IMG]
