When? You claimed I was wrong about the flag (fabricating a comment I never made while doing so) and you claimed I was wrong about the Morrill Tariff, but you provided no links to my actual posts and can't actually explain what I got wrong. Sorry, dude, but my bed is clean. Yours is the one that needs attending. But since I've asked several times and you've run and hid ever time you've been asked, I'll take that as your confession that you were not telling the truth when you claimed that I was wrong about the flag or the Morrill Tariff. Ta ta.

The states joined the Confederacy voluntarily.

They thought Blacks were inferior and incapable of self rule.

I find my argument holds up pretty well.

Confederate states were not allowed to choose whether to be free or slave. All of them had to be slave states. But, hey, as long as the United States thought that the Southern states were inferior and incapable of self rule, that puts them in the right according to your argument and the South was wrong to secede!

Ah, gotcha. That was fixed. All Confederate states had to be slave states. Ever get around to figuring out what I got wrong about the flag or the Morrill Tariff.

Sure. That puts them right, in there own eyes. The Southerners disagreed. Hence the Civil War. It is instructive to compare to today's culture war. Progressives think conservatives too stupid to rule themselves.

The right to own slaves was protected by the Confederate Constitution, but there was nothing there mandating anyone to own slaves.

Progressive politicians think everyone is too stupid to govern themselves, even the people that vote them into office. Sad part is, their base agrees.

I didn't say anyone was mandated to own slaves. I said the STATES had to ALLOW slavery. That's literally what "slave state" means and has always meant in this country. No one EVER used that phrase to mean a state where everyone was legally required to own a slave . . . especially since no such structure EVER existed in this country. That's something you made up entirely. Did you ever get around to figuring out what I got wrong about the flag or the Morrill Tariff? No?

The only way in which "progressive politicians" thought that the seceding states were "too stupid to govern themselves" is in that they disagreed with the position of the seceding states that black people were too stupid to govern themselves. Think, bud. You're drowning.

Why are you more upset by the idea that people who were against slavery thought that slave states were "too stupid to rule themselves" with regards to slavery while you refuse to criticize the slave states for saying that black people were too stupid to rule themselves?

And if they didn't want to be slave states they didn't have to join.
I am not upset by either idea.

You are seriously fine with slavery? The concept doesn't upset you?

Clearly you are fine with the concept YM -- at least of Serfdom and with no real autonomy over your own body or individual liberty - so long as some slickster claims there is some benefit to the collective in the sodomization of the individual .. its all good in the hood.

I can only assume that you are either joking to try to make social conservatives look bad or you have no idea what my positions are.

Did your sky daddy insist on this?

If you disapprove of slavery, don't own any. Problem solved.

No, the problem isn't solved if others around me are enslaving people. You are assuming that slave owners have more rights than slaves do. Did your slave-loving sky daddy insist on that?

No, fascism would be to support the slave owners, not those supporting individual liberty. You are literally saying that individual freedom is fascism. That's insane. I mean . . . it explains a lot . . . but it's insane.
