A former Army soldier is blaming the Biden administration after he says he was ordered to pay for gear he brought home from his last deployed mission in Afghanistan.

President Joe Biden has made "no apologies" for the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan following two decades of American involvement there. A few months after he was sworn in, Biden announced that U.S. troops would exit the country by September 11, 2021, saying, "It's time to end America's longest war."


His administration met a self-imposed August 31, 2021, deadline with evacuations of between 13,000 and 18,000 people per day. The withdrawal, described by some as a scramble and mad dash to meet the deadline, led to 13 U.S. service members being killed—the first service members killed in action since February 2020—and at least 18 others were injured during an attack at a checkpoint outside Kabul's airport.

In addition, 170 Afghans were killed. In total, more than 120,000 people were eventually evacuated before September 2021.

Here we have yet another example of a draft dodging Joe Biden defecating on American soldiers. How does something like this even happen? How can something like this be defended? Perhaps Joe Biden should pay out of pocket for the military equipment he left behind for the Taliban.

"They want to charge me $500 to $1,000 for gear I was ordered to leave in Afghanistan two years ago because as the last two birds were sitting on the tarmac ready to leave, there wasn't any room for extra gear, extra weight. Therefore, we were told to leave it. Some lower-level dudes including myself were like, 'No, this stuff is expensive. I'm not leaving this. I'm gonna get charged for this when it's time to leave.'"

Of course there are blatant double standards here. Being responsible for gear left behind in Afghanistan is only something that the little people have to pay for.

 

So let me break it down for you. Biden ordered a totally effed up flight from Afghanistan. Which directly resulted in the subject of the OP. And also this.

 

Biden is the commander in chief. He's responsible for everything that happens on his watch.

The charge was refunded. I guess once Biden found out some lower level accountant charged the solider, Biden fixed the issue. Good on Biden.

The article in the link makes it sound like the army later reversed course, and decided, rather than to charge the man for the gear left behind, that they would instead charge him for the gear he took with him.

Changing their tune from "You should have brought everything with you", to "You should have listened to orders and left everything there."

The soldier is still responsible for his gear no matter what the circumstances. He is blaming the wrong person. He should blame himself and accept responsibilty, like what he was taught when he was in the military.

Other than that, the rest is political BS trying to obfuscate the real issue, he left his own gear that he was responsible for, in Afghanistan and now he has to repay the government for such actions.

As for the withdrawal, look at the damn peace agreement that Trump basically surrendered Afghanistan to the Taliban so that he can put a mark beside a list of what he would do. That damn agreement should never have been made. Most of the equipment left was already given to the legitimate Afghan government through and by an Act of Congress from Bush Jr to Obama to Trump.

To be honest, in creating the thread I really thought that even the most ardent liberals here would perhaps have too much class to defend the dispicable actions of the Biden administration described in the OP. Well I was wrong.
