Dutch Clog Cyborg doesn't mention the fact that the Arab Muslim grandsons of Umar's generation soundly condemned the old camel jockey's reasoning and felt it was a blot on the reputation of Islam. There has also been plenty of respect for scholarship (Muslim and non-Muslim) in the history of Islam. What I love (sarcasm alert) about the Islamists is they seem to want to adopt the worst of Islam rather than the best.

 

Good, if that is true, they will offer support to the AU to help stomp out bigotry like this.

Otherwise it is just an empty claim.
