information and never present anything tangible. I consider it trolling. Reiver and another guy that I have on ignore do this constantly. So does the forum as a body of learned people believe that some standards need to be set as to all the BS claims with no backup. I mean presenting nothing at all. These people come to a gun fight with a balloon.
One thing I notice about this public forum as apposed to some others is that most folks have to be critical about everything, they have to argue everything, debate everything, attack the posters, attack the post. A normal conversation is hard to come by here. And yes, If a person makes an accusation or claim somthing as fact they should back it up. There are plenty of folks here who outright lie and then run when confronted.
Cites make one's points credible. They should be used as much as possible. However, sometimes trolls want you to back up everything, even what is common knowledge. I call that "homework" and it's abusive. I don't do homework for trolls.
Shut your mouth. jk. In all seriousness, welcome to PF, where anyone is allowed to have any opinion they wish to have. They can be agressive, they just can't troll.
No doubt, and At places like say the farmers market I can meet people, converse and everyone has a right to their opinion. That said, If someone I am conversing with is being rude, a jerk or what have you, I have no problem confronting them about it. Free speech is no reason for the community to allow for bad behavior.
Well, I can see why there is no response when you are demanding that only 10% of each Congressman have a say while the remaining 90% of each of them don't. Could be another way of splitting the vote, I suppose.
Sometimes it doesn't matter. Like when some idiot posts garbage from Think Progress or Huffpo. It might as well be from Pravda 1972.
I do not recall making that statement? can you post the whole quote with the posters name? Moreover that has nothing to do with the post you are responding to. A poster lied in that thread I posted and I called him on it. It had nothing to do with what your talking about.
If Google is your Expert Source of Information ... then you're stupid. Expertise and Experience trumps Google Links any day, besides ... who do you think supplies Google with Expert Information?
Good points. I will cite most anything when it is a new or opinion issue but I almost always cite. For real discussions I cite real University study's and papers such as Stanford, Duke, Cambridge and the like. I also like to use government sources as much as possible. When a discussion is a matter of opinion it is another story and I look to the liberal or conservative sources (depending on what I am looking for) to get information.
I agree with you and did a thread on the subject. The subjects that get the fabricated treatment are Israel vs whoever, Religion, pro gun rights. reva
Part of the problem is that for a credible source to be accepted, it must in fact be numerous credible sources and all must be painstakingly researched at all levels....for it to possibly be accepted as fact. This leads to the effort being worth it...for members who often will not even look at the offered link, and there is not a chance in hell that they will go to a definitive multiple link trail leading to actual facts. This site isn't enough: http://news.muckety.com/ The names and affiliations have to be followed up. The actual political contributions, benefactors, board memberships, past board memberships (or whatever) made with linked reliable confirmations.
