Defendants also staged political rallies inside the United States, and while posing as U.S. grassroots entities and U.S. persons, and without revealing their Russian identities and ORGANIZATION affiliation, solicited an compensated real U.S. person to promote or disparage candidates. Some Defendants, posing as U.S. persons and without revealing their Russian association, communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump Campaign and with other political activists to see to coordinate political activities.

I did find some of the charges in the article Mello cited rather hilarious.

They 'posted negative information' to 'sow discord' and 'spread distrust of candidates and the political system in general'.

Well O-M-F-G. You'd think negative information, discord and distrust haven't been prominent features of our political system since the founding of the Republic.

I would not doubt if trump laundered money, and since he is not a big banker laundering drug cartel money, he might be in trouble, but they cannot touch a sitting president with past crimes. Not sure if they can do it after he serves his term. Or terms. On the obstruction of justice, according to Dershowitz, who is a bright penny in constitutional law, this would be very difficult to prove, given the powers of a president and his rights as a president to do things which might look like obstruction but isn't. Unless he did something like erase tapes as nixon did.

Dershowitz is a democrat, and so a rare democrat, in that he does not allow his partisanship to fry his brain and place his hope in dreams and fanciful fantasies. So, I give him creds given his brain has not been hijacked by hatred.

In order to carry out their activities to interfere in the U.S. political and electoral processes without detection of their Russian affiliation, Defendants conspired to obstruct the lawful functions of the United States government through fraud and deceit, including by making expenditures in connection with the 2016 U.S. presidential election without proper regulatory disclosure; failing to register as foreign agents carrying out political activities within the United States; and obtaining visas through false and fraudulent statements.

 

She did, but a good option would have won it by ten million.

The ORGANIZATION's annual budget totaled the equivalent of millions of U.S. dollars.

 

Ahhhh this COULD be the beginning of the wrapping up of the investigation and moving on to the prosecution. That's why the results of the investigation are being announced.

This is about Russian interference in the election.

This is not about the collusion or obstruction of justice.

 

I do not recall we republicans vindicating the Russians, but the story told by the media and Democrats is that Trump was behind this and it changed the election. Rosenstein cleared that up. He said it changed nothing.

 

First, you prove there was Russian interference.

Then you prove Trump tried to obstruct any investigation into that interference or possible collusion with the Russians.
