cool thread Had you read the thread about israel becoming a major oil exporter? i wonder if they will be a presense in libya.
As I recollect, proselytes from that region are mentioned in Acts, so the nazis have at least as good a claim to it as to Palestine, where their ancestors never lived - so look out for greater American involvement soon as AIPAC starts 'kicking ass'. Poor bloody American donkeys, eh?
Jumping the gun somewhat, eh? We've taken a relatively muted role in this conflict. AIPAC does have too much influence here, but even they can't escape the fact that Americans in general are getting sick of interventionism and we're running out of money anyway.
If you believe that about AIPAC you must be a member of the National Rifle Association or in a Monastry, I think. The American pols seem to have brought back slavery for themselves when it comes to the Occupation Regime in Palestine.
I think most Americans don't really like either side. A lot of Zionists frequent this forum, but if you walked up to the average American and asked him/her what he/she thought of the Israel-Palestine conflict, he/she'd probably say something along the lines of "it's a mess I don't want us to get in."
That's possible, but it depends on what you mean by that. For example, I believe Israel has a right to exist, but I also believe that the Palestinians should have their own state as well. The 1967 borders seem like a fair compromise. If you're defining all of Israel as being an "occupation", then yes, we have and will continue to defend the occupation. What matters here is whether or not we are able to push forward the reasonable compromise being put forth.
The Arab League supported the intervention and will likely benefit as well. It's pretty much standard protocol for any new government to have foreign powers descend upon it for trade interests. China and Russia did plenty of that during the Cold War, for example.
The rebels get their gold chains and severed heads, and NATO gets the oil. Everybody is happy. What's the problem?
True - China + USSR - also tried to exploit every opportunity to gain influence , though IMO - the Arab Leagues support in this instance is not as clear cut. However, I'm sure , time will tell. Meanwhile , one should'nt ignore the plight of the average (perhaps overwhelming majority Libyans ) who are without running water/electricity, struggling to protect + provide for their eldeerly + children . There are times when I cant tell whether I prefer tyrants/dictators rather than revolting unwashed rebels, who've spent months looting , plundering and indiscrimate slaughtering. I wonder how many of those adrenaline pumped up killers will adjust to a normal days honest work - becoming bricklayers /skilled craftsmen to rebuild the Libya they've helped to destroy. How long will it take them to become decent human beings -prepared to earn an honest living ? I very much doubt whether their leaders will ever again do an honest days work. Hmmmm. Time will tell. ...
The ' problem ' is that the whole world is watching- unlike in the past. NATO are little short of a co-op of terrorists- and the United Nations can now see that.
Don't make the usual mistake of seeing a loathing of nazi 'Israel' as meaning an attack on the people now living there - it is wholly obvious, surely, that the 'two-state' solution means no more than two waterless and starving Bantustants awaiting the Final Solution of the Native Question by the nazis when they get the American ok. Only a single non-racist State will answer, with compensation for the returning ethnically cleansed Palestinians.
To be precise, the Arab League called for the intervention, as did the Organization of the Islamic Conference. I guess Marlowe and the "spoils of war" crowd must think that the people who supported the rebels will be getting free oil from Libya (?)...
LOL - Keep telling yourself that. I don't see Libya pulling out of OPEC, but they could operate outside the cartel like Russia...
The problem is the average - decent - hard working Libyan, struggling to support /raise a family , continue to suffer. but then I dont suppose you'd think of them would you ?
No - only in your case to a bother to call a ******* a nazi when it isn't one. Otherwise I use the word advisedly.
Talon , that doctored /mock up - cat photo - IS OLD HAT - It ceased being amusing yonks ago. Zzzzzzzzzzz.
I expect that means something, though what I do not know. The main thing the West has aimed at is to see that the people in the new American colonies do not have any benefit from their oil whereas the colonialists do, as you well know.
