WD everyone is certainly NOT "satisfied " + unlikely to be for a very long time. The overlooked , average , hard working Libyan, without running water/electricity, struggling to make an honest living and raing /protect a young family , the elderly /infirm sheltering from crazy gunmen. I suspect you've never experienced not capable of imagining , what life is like for those not set on looting and killing .. GO LEARN .
What does this post have to do with the OP? You now claim that there are going to be a lot of people that will be miserable now that Libya has been liberated. Who do you blame for this? What do you recommend to fix the problem? How does this tie in with the cartoon you posted?
First of all, its' not a "claim" - that a lot of people will be "miserable" . You only have to take a look at the appalling living conditions of the average Iraqi + Afghan and tell them they've been "liberated" - For feks suck are you really so indifferent to the sufferings of other people. ? What the fek does being "liberated" mean when the quality and standards of living of the masses , are today lower than its been a year ago . ? in Iraq's case , before the American led invasion ? You ask many questions . Well, I'm afraid there are no simply answers to satisfy the simple minded. tatty-byeeeee. ..
It's quite possible that a two state solution will end in more bloodshed, but it's worth a shot. Forcing all Palestinians or all Israelis to move isn't a feasible option. Granted, I'd be more than happy to house all of either group in America. We've got plenty of land. Plenty of Israelis are highly educated and skilled, so they'd be the more desirable group to move here, but I'm sure that the majority of both groups don't have any desire to move.
We'll probably have influence in Libya's oil market, but honestly, if we decided not to exert influence in their oil market, it would be rather stupid. People have made similar complaints about Iraq, but it always begs the question: "If you went to the trouble of invading a country, wouldn't you use some of the economic opportunities to your advantage?" To be honest, we haven't done enough of that in Iraq or Afghanistan, and as a result, we're shelling out tons of money for reconstruction without much in return. Russians and Chinese can point the finger all they want, but they do the exact same things.
Serfin, you'd be surprised, most of the highly educated/skilled Israelis came fro former USSR who've from the start saw Israel as a stepping stone, to their real "promised land " America. On the otherhand , most of the fundamentalist Jews hell bent on dispossessing /displacing Palestinians - are dual nationality American Zionist Jews who think of themselves as Hollywood gun -totting pioneers. Opportunists , taking full advantage of US sponsors in building US taxpayers subsidized illegal settlements on Occupied West bank, making establishment of a contigeous viable separate Palestinian state nigh impossible. I'm afraid , the situation is not getting better. .
Well... If we could actually get all of the highly skilled and educated Israelis to move here voluntarily.... The situation might fix itself if we then retracted our support for Israel...
Serfin , a closer look will reveal that most . if not all, of he "tons of money for reconstruction " being shelled out goes to US contractors + boomerangs back to US financial elite / shareholders in those companies. Its money from US taxpayers into the coffers of Corporate USA , Halliburton etc,etc.etc.. ...
Well yeah, but I was referring to this idea of us stealing the oil. I'm assuming that when people talk about the U.S. taking so and so's oil, they're referring to nationalizing it or using the profits to pay for occupation. The only way to make an occupation economically feasible is to use the money garnered from an invaded country's oil market to pay for the occupation itself or to fund part of your own government's budget. While it is true that contractors are making money hand over fist from these occupations, it doesn't really help us as a country in the long run. I'll agree that it helps our elites though.
Do you think US Immigration will agree to accept them, considering your own high unemployment stats, ?,
In general, immigrants with higher education, wealth, and desired skills tend to get preferential treatment in being allowed entrance. It doesn't always work that way, but it's kind of the same as a lot of other countries.
Ok, let me ask in another way. Libya was liberated by Libyans. Who do you have a quarrel with? What is the point you are trying to make with the OP? Feel free do dumb down your answers for my simple mind, I won't be offended.
