Someone who is hell-bent on keeping their brain shut to the reality we are dealing with, and is actively going to large gatherings to hug and suck face with other people.... is certainly going to be against churches closing.

We have to let the dumb be dumb. Trying to fix dumb, is, well, dumb. :)

It's not acting stupid to empower people to live life during a pandemic. You don't need to be bordering yourself up in your house, 24/7. Risky, yes. Stupid, no.

But life in general comes with risks. I saw an article that proper burials can't be held due to this social distancing nonsense. If you wanna know where the tripe here is laying, its in those two words. It's insane not to have a proper burial for a member who's passed away simply because some random person at the CDC thinks we all have the obligation to be "six feet away" from each other. Blatantly pathetic.

We could have knocked this thing out quickly if everyone just did their (very) small part. This will go on for months, now, and kill many many thousands unnecessarily. I'm done trying to talk to them. They are very clear that they simply do not care how many people die. They need their party.

    Scary.

(Regardless of Party) Buying into Trump's Delusional Narrative is a Bad Move.

The president is now taking this thing very seriously. It's refreshing. I'm so grateful. He's finally being presidential. I hope it sticks.

Covid19 has several differences from normal flu: both incubation period, transmission, and fatality rate. Moreover, COVid19 is now a pandemy while flu is not anymore. Of course, if 2410000 people have flu, you are not advised to kiss/hug them either.

I miss the reputation system that was on the old board for this very reason.

Yes, you absolutely do. Are you not seeing what's happening in your own country?

The governor of FL (and a good number of other states), the president of the USA, Fox News, and many other media outlets have spent time ignoring or even directly countering what medical science has been saying.

Suggesting people should have ignored those people is just plain stupid. People don't do that.

How often do YOU tell people that they have to check the validity of what their leadership is telling them?

We STILL have a number of states with no state wide policy on physical distancing.

I don't know what Lysol is, and I don't buy boxes of cereal.

And I'll keep decontaminating everything that comes into this house, until that curve is flat as a pancake. It's 10 minutes extra effort, at best .. but saves lives. Refusing to do it is either a fairly berserk level of laziness, or fear driven denial. I prefer informed, proactive calm.

They are going to be who we blame when this thing drags on for a year. They should be who we're blaming NOW.

Unfortunately we all know at least one person who's misbehaving. Maybe not to the same extent as our pal here .. but doing things like shopping once or twice a week, going to public places and just hanging around (parks, beaches, etc), buying fuel as usual, and so on. And these are people who don't need to do any of that, because they're working from home. They're doing it because they want to do it.

My husband and I go out approximately once each week, but not together. One day each - 1/2 week apart. We'd love to stock up more and go out less, but so many shelves are empty that we can't get enough for an entire week. What's making me crazy is the couples and families who are strolling through the store browsing at things... this isn't the time to pick out a new t-shirt. One person per household in the store. Get your necessities and get out.

Here, the supermarkets have started posting on social media asking people NOT to bring the whole family and treat it like an outing. Because people are actually doing that. Mom, dad, the three uncontrolled kids. Bored out of their wits at home, they decide the shopping centre is the place to get their recreation. Kids touching everything in sight, not knowing or caring about social distance, etc etc. It's a freaking disaster.

I feel for you on having to go out for food so often. That's hard.

Your post is a good example of the reasoning that leads to people doing idiotic **** like that Democrat that took the fish tank cleaner and killed himself. It's Darwinian. If a person is too stupid to live they will die. It's just a fact.

Our silly governor just invalidated every local ordinance that places of worship be closed. He wants people to be able to be together on Easter. Makes me sick to my stomach.

NO - you totally missed the point. Obviously, people will do stupid stuff. And, the case you pointed out WAS stupid, even though Trump raved about the benefits of this drug long before verification - seriously stupid.

But, that is NOT what happened in FL.

Following the direct recommendations of our leaders can't be considered justification for those on FL beaches being considered STUPID. They were TOLD that it was OK.

I've heard that's happening in more than one place.

It is shocking. We just aren't serious about combating COVID. Our failures continue in many places and in many ways.

Having Trump proclaim that healthcare workers in New York are stealing PPE is just about as disgusting as one could POSSIBLY imagine. And, his "gut" assumption that the need for PPE can't be that much higher than normal demonstrates just how out of touch he is - not even interested enough to ask questions of those who know.

Trump never recommended that ANYONE take a teaspoon of fish tank cleaner to PREVENT them from getting cornonavirus. He never said it was okay. He said some doctors were having good luck with it. Doctors use morphine on patients but that doesn't mean that people should self medicate with morphine. The idiot s didn't believe Trump in the first place. They were totally anti Trump. Why did they suddenly believe Trump and take fish tank cleaner? I think there is more to the story.

I didn't say he recommended fish tank chemicals. Those were two profoundly stupid individuals.

HOWEVER, Trump DID say that we have a solution in chloroquine.

The result was hording of such compounds to the point where those who need them for lupus, rhumatoid arthritis and other disease can't get them. Trump's unsupported statement has caused real pain, false hope, a false justification for downplaying the seriousness of COVID, etc.

And, there is still no scientific evidence that it works.

Trump put Pence in charge of this problem that involves serious attention to medical science.

Why is Trump doing the briefings when he hasn't gotten through ONE BRIEFING without telling blatant falsehoods???

Why aren't those briefings focusing on Pence and medical science?

They have been, actually. He's been better the last three or so days. I saw some of today's; it was a mixed bag, part regular Trump and part grown-up/presidential Trump.

If it wasn't contaminated after you went out, it doesn't need decontaminated. One isn't going to get sick if they don't render their homes clean enough to make computer microchips in. And Lysol is simply a brand of disinfectant.

I'm well aware of what's happening in my country. I ask, would you rather die not living life or die living fearlessly? I've gone on hikes since these orders were put in place. Parking lots have been packed. Vitamin D helps boost your immune system.

Bordering up in your house seems to be the most fear driven.
