You don't really expect good intel from facebook and twitter, do you?

Khadafi is on the lam and his compound in Libya is under rebels control.

American reporters are filming inside the compound.

I was responding to your enquiry as to the origin of our 'Zimbabwean' colleague. I have little doubt that the FB page is unashamedly pro-Gadaffi.

    Thanks...

Khadafi is toast.. The real challenge is how the Libyan people organize themselves to go forward.

They won't. There is no "Libyan people". Lybia consists of tribes, that is why "rebels" are going to commit mass crimes against pro-Gaddafi tribes, just like they already did to POWs. It is going to be one part of Libya occupying another part of Lybia or a civil war. Your capt. Obvious.

When's the last time negotiations worked with any mad leader killing thousands of his own people?

Oh, that's right, NEVER. You continue to amaze with your ignorance, moon.

Of course, however, all these "rebels", "revolutionaries", "protesters", are all payed by the CIA, FBI, NBA, NBL, NHL, and NFL according to you, right? LOL

Hold on there, moon.. They US couldn't "negotiate" with Khadafi.. This was an Arab Spring rebellion and Khadafi couldn't be convinced by anyone in the international community to make timely concession and reforms for a more democratic process.

My dad was with Esso Libya as a senior exec when Khadafi took power from Idris.

    http://www.asharq-e.com/news.asp?section=3&id=24257

    Excerpt:

he degree of political allegiance to the ruling regime in Tripoli varies from one tribe to the next, particularly over the forty years that Gaddafi has been in power. The tribe which has the strongest, and longest, ties to the Gaddafi region is the Magariha tribe, who which has yet to announce their position on the bloody demonstrations that have been taking place across the country for the past week.

Former Libyan Prime Minister Abdessalam Jalloud, widely regarded as Gaddafi's right-hand man for much of his reign, is a member of the Magariha tribe. Gaddafi's own tribe, the Gaddafi tribe, had historically not been an important tribe in Libya prior to Colonel Gaddafi's ascent to power, and the Gaddafi tribe was not known for playing a major role in Libya's right against colonialism over the last 200 years.

The leadership of the Magariha tribe acknowledges a debt of gratitude to Gaddafi and his regime for securing the return of one of the tribe's members, Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, from prison in Britain after he was convicted of being behind the Lockerbie bombing.

However sources also told Asharq Al-Awsat that this has not prevented a number of youths of the Magariha tribe from participating – with members from other tribes – in the demonstrations and protests against Gaddafi's rule, especially in cities in eastern and southern Libya.

An Arab spring rebellion that resulted in 50 people dancing on the streets of the central square of Tripoli. Moon's analysis is correct. Since when has it been confirmed that the "rebels" genuinelly represent the interests of the Libyan people, the vast majority of whom did not call for Western intervention?? It strikes most people that until he fell out of favour with the West the latter were only too happy to deal with him. Moreover, shortly prior to the West intervening, the Libyan regime offered the West a negotiating hand only for them to decline. This follows a pattern. Blix, for example, was removed by the US from Iraq as the prelude for invasion and OBL's requests for dialogue were turned down flat.

At the end of five weeks of this uprising, they were asking for help from the international community.

The US could certainly have accepted Khadafi's offer, but the Libyan people didn't.

Khadafi has NEVER been good for his word over the past 42 years.

The US and Europeans have frozen 30 billion in Khadafi assets.. Not all are liquid, but that money is for the Libyan people.

Why don't you read the SPECIFICS of their new Constitution instead of jumping to conclusions?

Izverg.. I haven't seen anyone questioning that Khadafi is in the weeds.

    Nobody knows where he is.

Yes, I'm well aware of those issues. But that doesn't come anywhere near close to ascertaining the reality underpinning the official stated line. To what extent do the rebels represent the views of the mass of the Libyan people in this regard? The answer to the question is they don't. Or at least, we have no evidence to the contrary.

As far as the Arab League are concerned, they definetely do not represent the aspirations of the mass of the Libyan people.
