This is a great flick, at the crossroad between Kill Bill and Girls Interrupted, with a very talented cast: Jena Malone (you might remember her as a kid in Contact) and Emily Browning (Sleeping Beauty) are fabulous. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0978764/ Forget about Superman and all your dopey heros, this is real. That was an awesome movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There's no other movie out there like it and I hope they do make another one with a different.cast to prevent it from becoming stale.
I so regret having missed that when it was in theatres. It's incredible - unbelievable. I was only into the first half when I made this thread; and now that I have seen the end, Imma watch it a lover again. It is that good. Here's another trailer
Emily Browning is one of the most talented Aussie actors we have. You might remember her from Leminy Snicketts a Series of Unfortunate Adventures. However, Sucker Punch got terrible reviews over here, and was agreed to be possibly the worst film Browning has participated in.
Don't listen to them, Mak. Make your own mind (it's free). It is one of the best movies I've seen from last year. I usually get bored rather quickly by action movies, but this one is different. It works on three different layers (the reality, the symbolic, the imaginary). You will enjoy it, I betcha!
It was a great idea and I like the stylized cinematography, but after the first visit to the main character's third-layer fantasy world it quickly deteriorated to little more than visual cotton candy, like the director was presenting different ideas for video games using real people for the middle 80 minutes. The repetition got old fast. It's too bad, too, because I like the ending, but I'm sure the film turns a lot of people off so much that they don't even stick around for it.
