Trying to get all my threads deleted now are you? Yes, there are facts in the OP. Just as there were facts in all five of the other threads deleted here. HIV is on the rise in boys ages 13-29 in the last 7 years. Those are facts. Facts. Facts you don't want the general public seeing. But discussing these facts may save lives. You are about saving lives, right?

 

Maybe I can help you out here since you seem to be posting only to yourself. You might get better replies if you'd stop calling men 'boys'....

Ages 18 to 29 are not 'boys'.... seriously.

 

I thought the new lib culture of anything goes and all sex 24/7 was supposed to be good for kids.

At least that is how libs promote it.

Now we find that kids are entering adulthood with deadly social diseases that used to be largely unheard of in their age group.

Nah- that is just a far right wing fantasy- believe it or not thats not what they teach on Sesame Street. LOL....might as well be discussing Area 51.

There is an increase certainly- because when I was that age those diseases were almost unknown in the U.S. Heck since my girlfriend was on the pill I went for years without ever knowing what a condom even felt like- there were no 'uncurable' std's at one point.

Then came herpes, and then HIV, HPV, Hep and others- none of those were STD's anyone was aware of when I became sexually active.

So does that mean before that everyone were angels? No of course not- but yes teens are having sex earlier. What is the reason? Probably our culture and media- you want to blame it on Liberals?

Okay- but you have to blame it on Capitalism as well. Sex sells- sex sells really, really well. And the reason why sex is pervasive in our culture is because our Capitalist system encourages doing what works well.

I am open to recommendations to make it safer for our kids- but the evidence shows that just telling them not to have sex is not working.

The CDC has solid recommendations, but needs to counter the vast resources of the media which promotes sex 24/7- again look at the magazines in the supermarket racks- Cosmo, Men's Health, etc.

And STD's are on the rise for all teenagers- and that rise mirrors the rise in HIV increases with teen males.

OK how about TV commercials from the CDC defining how sex with the lower intestine [colon/anus] makes HIV contraction much more likely because of the absorptive nature of the colon of fluids like infected semen directly into the bloodstream? A simple diagram without too many lurid details?

That's not what the thread is about. Read the title. It's about an alarming increase in new HIV cases in boys ages 13-29 in less than a decade...roughly the same time frame as the big media blitz promoting "all things gay" on TV, and a couple states ratifying gay marriage.

Trends in youth follow trends in society. Occam's Razor suggest a very simple explanation for the problem: Monkey see, monkey do...

Statistically speaking, FAR MORE LIKELY for MSM to get HIV in the age bracket under discussion.

This is a fact.

 

My rabid concern with this subject is the vacuum of outreach on behalf of the CDC to youth on the topic of avoiding anal sex completely. There are other ways of having sex. Anal sex is like playing russian roulette. And if a person is promiscuous as young men notoriously are, and have habituated themselves to anal sex, and are also notoriously poor practitioners of condom use, that bullet is going to find its mark.

Each HIV/AIDS patient, as they artificially linger on sometimes for 10 years or more, costs taxpayers [ultimately since the huge majority of HIV/AIDS patients either are or become indigent] over $500,000 per patient before their inevitable and gruesome death.

Yet complete and utter silence. Part of the Obamacare plan provides for a huge fund [that will become quickly unsustainable when this trend continues to accelerate in boys] to pay for medical and medicine expenses, hospitalization etc. for those with pre-existing conditions like HIV/AIDS who cannot afford healthcare. This is a burden that will rob the entirety of the rest of the public in a very short time of even just basic preventative care.

This trend in upswing in "monkey see, monkey do" HIV in boys is actually a matter of national security. Our economy is teetering on the brink. Unless we plan on turning our backs on these boys and letting them die in the gutter without their life-prolonging medicines and increasing hospitalization stays, we'd better take the cheap route and do a massive public outreach campaign.

And no, that doesn't mean posting more pages on the CDC website addressing the problem. Kids don't read that crap there. Put it in video games or on TV and then you'll find your audience... Remember, our family had a dear friend die from exactly this problem: contracting HIV from untreated or unaddressed sexual promiscuity and childhood "influence" that shoved him in that direction. He took a lot of boys/guys with him too.

That post completely debunked every argument you've spammed in this thread. Teaching kids not to have anal sex would not save lives. HIV is spread sexually via several means. Stopping anal sex does nothing to prevent AIDS.

If a kid has an eighteen-fold higher chance of contracting a given disease via a specific behavior, you teach that kid to avoid that behavior at all costs. Unless you're the CDC. In which case, you sit on your hands and do little or nothing to reverse the epidemic in young boys and men.
