Surrendering Control of Wombs to Politicians is a very bad idea.

Authoritarian ideologues insist that their politicians seize control of medicine, science, classrooms, libraries, etc.

The consequences of such rabid statism are tragic.

One woman miscarried in the restroom lobby of a Texas emergency room as front desk staff refused to admit her. Another woman learned that her fetus had no heartbeat at a Florida hospital, the day after a security guard turned her away from the facility. And in North Carolina, a woman gave birth in a car after an emergency room couldn't offer an ultrasound. The baby later died.

Complaints that pregnant women were turned away from U.S. emergency rooms spiked in 2022 after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, federal documents obtained by The Associated Press reveal.

The cases raise alarms about the state of emergency pregnancy care in the U.S., especially in states that enacted strict abortion laws and sparked confusion around the treatment doctors can provide.

Rabid trumpery is transforming the United States into a sh¡thole nation.

Should personal reproductive decisions be made by private citizens in consultation with loved ones, and medical and spiritual advisers one knows and trusts, or by the likes of these characters?

Ideologues? Just people who want government to stay in its lane.

The rabid pro choice folks continue to bloviate about every tragedy they can find, whether a result of the turnover of Roe or not.
Until we can have an adult conversation and find some middle ground, the issue will continue to divide.

I am not convinced there is much middle ground on this issue in that country. On the one hand you have people advocating for women being allowed to kill unborn babies up until birth, and on the other hand you have people claiming that killing a freshly fertilized human egg is murder. That's quite an immense gap.

"It's lane" is not in the womb, nor in medicine, science, and academia.

Authoritarian ideologues want the State to dictate everywhere, apparently.

Who gets to decide which conversations are adult?

This is yet more proof that the hypocritical "pro life" holier-than-thou jerkwads only care about the fetus, and care little to nothing about the living, breathing, sentient human woman whose life is at risk. They disgust me. Their noses are stuck into the business of others based on their emotional responses to abortion. There is nothing logical or reasonable about their views.

How do we have an adult conversation with people who scream "baby killer!" into our faces?

If they want that, then why are they insisting that government involve itself in our private medical considerations? How is that "their lane"?

Some flamers and have contempt for the will of the People.

Radical statists infiltrated our Supreme Court by deception, all indicating they recognized that Roe v Wade was established law after half-a-century.

Their treachery ensued, as did the horror stories.

Now the People are determined to win back reproductive freedom in state after state and drive politicians out of the womb.

The dominoes are falling. The so-called "pro lifers" who have longed desired the end to Roe are reaping what they sowed. They should file it under "Careful What You Wish For."

And who'd have thought that deep red Kansas would be the first domino to fall? I love that.

And yet Canada has no legislation restricting abortion and what is the outcome there? No “after birth abortion” (as if that is a thing anywhere ) no “women using abortion as birth control” (again not a thing) but and this bit is vital - a massively lower maternal and infant mortality rate despite having a dispersed population over rural and very remote areas

I think the big shock to “pro-lifers” who were just following along with the movement was that banning abortion had medical consequences. You read the post of our more fervent members on this topic and that is either dismissed or acknowledged as “only affecting a few women”.

Authoritarian politicians are hellbent upon their states emulating Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Iran in abrogating reproductive freedom.
Americans, across the political spectrum, will not surrender to the radical statists.

Well, for darn sure your comments don't qualify! How can we have an adult conversation with people who start the conversation with "pro life" holier-than-thou jerkwads only care about the fetus"!

Look, in all of this we keep forgetting that for any woman facing this decision there are no "right" answers. Its a decision they face alone and they desrve the support we can offer.

And yes, that fetus has to be considered as well. Like it or not, at some point that fetus becomes a human being and it will have rights.

I admit bias. Both of our kids are adopted and the birth mom had no reason not to abort both of them. And every time I think that they could have been aborted I thank her. Our grandchild has a reason to be thankful as well.

And I've known people who should have been aborted. Or at least, a condom should have been used.

Thankfully, not my place to judge or decide.

So first tell us when life begins. We can at least agree that when its alive society should have a voice?

The right answer is that its the woman that makes the decision and no one else, not until its out of the womb.

So your position is that a fetus is not alive until it is born?

Canada is a more socialist society and has universal single payer health care. That's why.

Yep! But I was researching this and one of your health ministers was asked why Canada did not have any legislation around abortion and she replied “We don’t have legislation around hip replacements so why would we need legislation around abortion”?

Women vote. Especially young, single women.

    Nuff said.

only republicans seem to want after-birth abortions if the parents are poor

We finally agree on something. The constitution is pretty clear in defining its lane. We need to starting heading back there.

That's right Natty .. "My Body My Choice" --- and just like on the Right .. the Left with their Forced medical Treatment .. same problem .. Belief in personal liberty and bodily integrity .. but only for things they agree with... say hypocrisy and violation of the founding principle and constitutional republic on both sides.

And as you suggest .. these progressive authoritarian collectivist ideologues have seized control of medicine, science, classrooms , etc .. add social media to the list of cancel culture projects .. got to cancel views they disagree with .. end justifies means....

The consequences of rabid fallacious Utilitarianism are indeed tragic.

agree, the government needs to stop trying to control women's bodies, and stop trying to force their religions beliefs on others via the government
