I am an American that is so disappointed by our idiot President. I never wanted us to intervene with Syria. I know Assad hates Al Qaeda and all other factions of terrorist/extremism. Our dummy President decided to sanction Assad rather than reward him for doing the work we are doing.
Agree with you on this. Destabilizing the region for the sake of some phantom idea wasn't a smart move. But there have been many not really smart moves... Maybe, they don't seem smart to us because we don't know the real reasons behind the story.
The reason for the war in Syria is the 'West's' eternal enemy, Russia; something which has been embedded in Western Europe's genes for hundreds of years. Russia is the nation who kept them and the Pope from grabbing lands (and people) in the Orthodox East. I'm not joking!! Syria always had a traditional relationship with Russia because of the Syrian Orthodox Church, and Assad like Ghadafy before him, refused to hurt Russia and allow the gas pipelines from Qatar to pass through Syria to the Mediterranian Sea, so the U.S. felt he had to go. Ukraine is a continuation of this proxy war between the U.S. and Russia, and in both cases it doesn't matter how many people die, or how many people suffer. Nor does it matter that beautiful countries are destroyed... and that from a super power which should be a force for peace in the world and not one for destruction. .
As for Israel, all it cares for is its survival. They want both sides to kill one another off. Assad was not problem for Israel, but once he began losing to the jihadists he needed Hizbollah's help, that's when the problems started. As for Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, they are being opportunistic and feel this is their chance to rebuild their caliphates. They will not allow any peace deal to be made unless Assad goes, that way they can start killing anyone that doesn't approve of their fanatic form of Islam, so the war goes on.

I really hope for the best for you and all your friends and family. What is going on in Syria right now, especially with the rise of the Islamic State, is horrible and I can't imagine having to live like that in America.
If U.S. Air Force coordinated with Syrian Army and helped us against ISIS terrorists, I guarantee the ISIS would be defeated in less than 1 year. Syria lacks a modern airforce but has the boots on the ground. U.S. has a modern airforce but lacks the boots on the ground. If the U.S. policy wasn't this stupid and borderline criminal, the ISIS problem would be long gone.
I agree with this for the simple reason President Assad protects the Syrian Christians. That is where my loyalty ends. US policy if successful will lead to genocide of the Syrian Christians and that probable fact makes me ashamed of my country's actions against your president.

Syrian Christians all support Syrian Army and Government. If terrorists take over, they will be wiped out. Saddam also protected Christians in Iraq. There was 1 million of them. Since the stupid invasion and occupation, 90% are gone, either killed or ran from Iraq.
Since you are a genius,. then tell me how do we deal with Al Qaeda who are hiding in urban areas. Syria is infested with Al Qaeda bearded terrorists. Russia is supplying us weapons to deal with those terrorists. If we have to destroy houses to kill them so be it. I want to spare lives of Syrian soldiers and that weapons saves lives of soldiers. Houses can be rebuilt.

I don't think any polls taken in the ME are reliable.. You do know that Assad is controlled by his hardliner uncles and his ruthless brother. In 1998 Bibi and the PNAC wanted Assad out... They could certainly articulate their reasoning.
