How would that make Montoya correct, considering he claimed that our present tax burden is the lowest in American History?

    Which:

    1) Impacted only a tiny fraction of our population (ie: the 94% level only affected people with an inflation adjusted income of $10,000,000/yr, for instance);

    2) Which nearly every one who was targetted by those levels of taxation avoided by buying things like collectibles, lowering their AGI.

Do not use your fractured understanding of what took place in the past to defend a clear injustice in the present.

Do you have an intelligent argument against having a balanced budget or just trolling?

    Warming: rhetorical question above!

Who says im against a balanced budget? The only way to achieve it is to tax the rich.

    Please check this out, Subdermal.

The latest data show that a big portion of the federal income tax burden is shouldered by a small group of the very richest Americans. The wealthiest 1 percent of the population earn 19 percent of the income but pay 37 percent of the income tax. The top 10 percent pay 68 percent of the tab. Meanwhile, the bottom 50 percent—those below the median income level—now earn 13 percent of the income but pay just 3 percent of the taxes. These are proportions of the income tax alone and don’t include payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare. http://www.american.com/archive/2007...pays-the-taxes

Listen, Bolshevik. It's time for you to grow up and face reality. We need to get back to financial responsiblility. Taxing the rich just because, ain't going to do it. Your Welfare gravy train must stop. That means putting all Unconstitutional Welfare programs on the guillotine as well.

WRONG!!! If we did what you advocate, that is to confiscate all of the wealth, and dismantle the military, that would not even make a small dent in the 14 trilllion dollar debt that Liberal social spending has gotten us into in the first place. Not to mention you effectively kill off job creation and without a military, we have zero defense.

    Excellent suggestion!

    You are absolutely correct, Bassman.

Especially when you say, "We need to get back to financial responsiblility. Taxing the rich just because, ain't going to do it. Your Welfare gravy train must stop. That means putting all Unconstitutional Welfare programs on the guillotine as well."

Liberals want the good life for themselves and not for future generations of young Americans. If we don't cut the growth in entitlement spending, there will be nothing left for future generations of Americans. All of our taxes will go to pay the interest on the gargantuan federal debt! ... If we can turn around the Democrats and get them to adopt a rational spending philosophy instead of the idea that they can spend any amount of money they want with no consequences whatsoever, this will be a victory for all of us who have not yet retired and for future generations of our sons and daughters!

    That's what you implied.
That's the worst way to solve the problem, because it isn't a long term solution. There is a finite amount we can tax, but an infinite amount we can spend.

Therefore, spending cuts on open-window spending has to be first. Then the tax-code. Austerity means primary reducing spending and additionally raising taxes on everyone.

"My name is Representative Maxine Waters and I am a flaming liberal. And as a flaming liberal and a Democratic Socialist I must tell you the money in your savings and checking accounts does not actually belong to you. Instead, your money, the money you have worked so hard for, collectively, belongs to the federal government! This is why I support increasing our income tax rate to 70 percent like it was in the good old days before the Republicans were in charge of tax policy!”

The middle class already bear the biggest burden. Its time distribute the burden to those who can afford it. Im sorry but if a company is making billions in profits they can certainly afford to cough up some more taxes.

LOL how is that even remotely communist? Now taxes are communist? Or is only taxing the rich the communist? I mean, you people don't seem to complain about fact that a man making 50k a year pays a much higher tax rate than the man making 30 million a year. You fail yet again. I get a kick out of ripping these right wing extremists apart.

And yet another blantant lie. And even so what does that have to do with anything? just because he may or may not have taken a risk means he should be coddled and shift his burden onto someone who makes a fraction of what he does? All simply because hes rich? Nope sorry, he makes more and benefits more so he must pay more with NO BREAKS. Because they are rich they don't need it. Every single economist agrees.

I don't even know where to start. Every word of your post is of course WRONG, yet you posted it anyway. I did not get my graph from Wikipedia which is painfully obvious if you go back to my original post, and click on the graph with the right mouse button, then click on "properties" and check the URL address. So there was no job "Neatly cut cropped and pasted from Wikipedia"

The original comment was as follows:

As the chart I posted clearly shows that statement is a flat out lie. In the beginning of the country before the Democrats passed the 16 Amendment so they could collect income tax (not a progressive income tax straight out of the Communist Manifesto), and before the Democrat Quiet Coup of 1937 the federal government ran only on tariffs, or like a sales tax. Now they run off of sales taxes (tariffs), payroll taxes, AND income taxes. Of course all those taxes added together add up to a lot more than just the original tariff tax making their statement "its a undeniable fact we are taxed the lowest in American history." flat out wrong, or a flat out lie, a Leftist Lie! :puke:

Democrat violations o the Constitution mean high taxes, high deficits (because Americans will never allow themselves to be charged a high enough tax rate to pay for Democrat violations of the Constitution, and pay off the debt making permanent deficits inevitable), and the destruction of individual Liberty for ourselves, and our Posterity. :omg:

Yes I know...How dare I say the rich should pay more! I mean they have families! How will they ever pay the mortgage on their 10 million dollar mansions?

Prove your claims. If the income comes from "work" the numbers are below.

    $50,000 X 15% tax rate = $7,500 paid in taxes.
    $30,000,000 X 35% tax rate = $10,500,00 paid in taxes.

If the income comes from other sources of revenue (capital gains, or dividends) I'll just bet the "evil rich guy" (that directly or indirectly probably employs you and people like you) will pay still a higher dollar amount than someone making $50,000.

Prove your "facts" or quit arguing Marxism. :puke:

Another Leftist LIE! :puke: prove it! How do tariffs, income taxes, and payroll taxes equate to LESS than tariffs alone (only charged on importing and exporting goods). Prove your LIE! :angered:
