BINGO … The very brave soldiers of the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry were fighting on The Union side FOR The Union -- NOT for The State of Minnesota as distinct from the *other* states … Exactly my point …

Declining to glorify "the South and those who fought" for secession and slavery is not the same thing as "shaming the South" ...

No they were fighting for the state of Minn. that backed the Union. Had Minn back the south they would have been southern backers but still Minnesotans first. In other words they allied themselves with the north.

I know right. Im sure the Washington monument in DC will be brought down by next summer. Brits and blacks can celebrate together.

Just think once we have erased history it will be as if slavery never happened and the ancestors of slaves will have nothing to complain about.

Erase history erase racism is that it?

It is dead on accurate, just drive the Gentilly, Chef Mentur, Almonaster RD areas. At one time HUGE industrial area. Paper, roofing, coffee, cans, and on and on. Same on the West Bank. Yea there's been some REAL nice Section 8 housing built with government money, but that isn't jobs and production nor a tax base. I know first hand with 40 years experience working there.

"From a new state flush with patriotism, Minnesotans were the first in the Union to respond to the call."

Minnesotans responded in Minnesotan units. They fought under their state banners.

And yes it is and guess what those Minnesotans who answered the call didn't do it to free slaves, they were fighting with the other union forces in a country where slavery was still legal and to bring back into that union all the slave states where slavery would still have been legal.

Apparently you don't know they're projected to hit 195 this year, that's like the highest or 2nd highest in 8 years.

then that means they're killing themselves at breakneck speeds, compared to the last 8 years or so.
