I think the idea is more devious. I think they know many people are going to hesitate to upload their ID into a database. Who knows what the government could do with that data?

 

They are not "by definition" pornograghy or pornographic, at best novelty items..

 

Yeah i think that's the idea at the end of the day. If you look at the group that pushed this, they claim pornhub is showing videos of minors on the website. They could use the database of users to punish them for the hosting sites violations. I think the group knows many users will just find a different website, so they are comfortable with hurting pornhubs bottom line.

 

If you can steal a parent's credit card, you can steal their ID. They are the same size and stored in the same places.

You think that many men need porn to get off and will eagerly challenge this. But don't forget that around the world, many states have been able to trample sexual rights all over the place. Just look at all the Muslim countries that oppress the sexual actions of adults.

I'm calling this now that Texas will be allowed to ban pornhub without challenge.

No, the State can sue any site that isn't screening for ID in their state. No one has to come forward. Pornhub is just the first to be sued.

Pointing out hypocrisy is not changing the subject, it's pointing out hypocrisy. A nanny state is where schools get to decide what is and isn't good for your kid and then hiding it from you because they know better than you do. Proving someone is 18+ years old does not a nanny state make.

 

If you think the existence of a public school is a "nanny state," then have fun in your fantasy world.
