Obama took over what he and his fellow members of the Democrat Congress, they took control of the Congress a year before the recession began, had managed to produce after Bush and the Republicans handed them one of the best economies ever and a paltry $161B deficit.

In a bankruptcy as they should have gone through the debtors get paid first. Obama just destroyed those peoples wealth. Then took hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars an bought the stock, the United States became the largest GM shareholder. NEVER in the history of the country has that happened. And in the end when GM went bankrupt it cost us hard working taxpayers those hundreds of billions. And than includes the auto workers in the South who Obama entered into competition against with their taxpayer dollars.

After the tax rate cuts were fully implement tax revenue growth hit 15%in 2007. The largest increase in modern history. He and the Republican Congress lowered the deficit to a MEASLY $161B. Two years later with the Democrat Congress in hit $1,400B they kept it over $1,000B for the next three years. It took the Republicans taking back the Congress an instituting the sequester and austerity cuts which Obama and the Dems opposed to cut the deficit in half.

By the time Obama moved over to the WH we were on the back end of the recession which ended that June, the job loss rate bottom out the month he took office and began a rapid recovery. Rather than get out of the way and even ensuring business and investors he would NOT rescind the Bush tax rates and would NOT start a regulatory tidal wave and yes even wait until we are in a full recovery he did the opposite. Then he announced he would be taking over the country's healthcare system. Had he just gotten out of the way we would have gotten into that full recovery. And such a strong recovery should have been producing 4%, 5% even 6% GDP growth as the economy kicks into gear. The LFPR continued to fall, wages and income fell.

Trump's first three years pre-COVID were some of the best economies this country has ever seen especially on employment and wage and salary.
