The American Government is more valuable than its citizens, apparently.

When you read over the numerous 1/6 posts, and mainly the DOJ/left argument as such. You're left with one startling conclusion: The government is more important than you are. Being pulled out of a car? Tough ****. Streets being taken over? You're out of luck. Property damage to stores and franchises? It was the risk you took to be an entrepreneur!

Meanwhile, that 3 hour saga had been compared by previous Presidents to Pearl Harbor and 9/11. It's an 'insurrection', Biden is 'fighting for democracy'(I could barf in a bag about all of this.). It's quite clear that our nation's capitol has such an absorbed god complex about itself, that it's totally divorced from the rest of us while governing on 'our behalf'

So is it any wonder that Congress is ineffectual? Is it any wonder that our leadership picks people based on appearance than qualification and skill? Congress can afford to do that, because they're divorced from us.

We need to elect people to Congress who don't have such a bloated ego about themselves. A more humble Congress might actually get things done. #vote out all incumbents.

That is all you had to say. Unfortunately we have the government voters want. We have an incompetent and corrupt federal government and voters continue to ask for more of the same. The basic problem is cultural, not political.

The trouble is with the education system which is creating generations of socialist robots. Critical thought and academic freedom are dead on our college campuses. From there the rot filters down to the high, middle and elementary schools.

American Democracy is an illusion, assuming by 'democracy' you mean a government controlled by the people.

We have had for a long time a government of special interests, an oligarchy. In the last century or so it has further devolved into a fascist system.

It's not realistic to believe that voting out all incumbents and replacing them with new Congress members will lead to a sea change. Ever heard the saying: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss? Or, "all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others"? There is lots of history showing that the office changes the occupant more than the occupant changes the office.

Second, you may ask yourself why voters don't elect more humble people? Could it be that humble people do not make good politicians and will lose elections? Nice guys finish last, right?

Third, it is funny that Trump supporters want to elect more humble people, when Trump is the antithesis of being humble.

That is certainly part of it. I think the media are the major source.

No democracy has nothing to do with people controlling government. No government on the planet is controlled by the public. It is about people choosing leaders by election.

No it is not fascist. Nor is it oligarchical. You could call it an aristocracy of lawyers. But basically it is a republic.

I agree except for the last sentence. I don't think Trump supporters want humility. What they want is less government and more freedom. Remember "drain the swamp?" It didn't happen but it got loads of support from the Trump supporters. You are correct that humble people can't win elections in the U.S.

It has nothing to do with a god complex, it has to do with the rule of law. Trump lost. He lost 63 lawsuits while not providing one credible piece of evidence that it was stolen. He continued to make this statement and even said that we should fight for what we believe in. He also said Pence should do the honorable thing and allow the discussion of election results in the various states such as Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and others to be done on the house Floor. The moment Pence denied the Arizona Congregation that effort, we had all hell break loose in the Capital. And yes, it was an attempted insurrection. Most had minor parts, pled guilty and either had time served, served a very short time in jail, probation, or whatever. Some were more involved, had their trial, and were pretty much found guilty, nearly all of them. There are 1,500 people involved in that attempted insurrection. Some family members snitched on them. Some were caught because they posted everything on social media, and some were good old-fashioned detective work.

Congress in ineffectual because of politics. Cooperation is now a four letter word in far right politics. We see this with the freedom caucus who will turn on McCarthy if he does another deal with the Democrats to not shut down the government. Most people don't want the government to shut down at all, but the Freedom Caucus is so convinced to do this, they are willing to burn everything, and these are "your comrades" so to speak.
