Talk about your favorite beers here. These are my favorite 3: --- Stella Artois - best beer ever hands down, delicious, crisp, and bubbly - almost like the Champagne of beers Heinekin - what I ususally drink at a bar - a good substitute for Stella Artois, not nearly as good but better than most domestic beers Pabst Blue Ribbon - my favorite cheap beer. They cost about $6 or for a 6 back at my local beer store - have a very natural and organic taste, much better than most other beers for the price.
I like Blue Moon, and Fat Tyre on occasion - I haven't had them in months though. Usually I'll stick with a good lager because it leaves less of an aftertaste.
Why start a beer thread, and include PBR? The entire point of PBR is that it is cheap. It is self-consciously average beer, but average beer that is incredibly inexpensive. It doesn't even attempt to be good. You need to broaden your horizons. Try some belgian beers. Try some good German beers. If you don't like very strong hoppy beers, there are some very good wheat beers from both those countries, I highly recommend a number of them(they are like Blue Moon, but much better). http://www.germanbeerguide.co.uk/hefeweiz.html I generally agree with these rankings, the Weihenstephaner is my favorite as well. For the Belgian style wheat, I like these. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/259/7879 http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/149/78 The second I really like on a hot summer day. It is really refreshing and tasty. If you are talking only mass produced beers common in America, I would say my favorite would probably be Yuengling. It isn't my first choice, but I will often order it late nights when I am already drunk and just want something cheap to maintain my buzz.
Bitburger Trumer Pils Westmalle Dubbel Dos Equis (my standard when others aren't available) And anything good on draft. Love me a good draft beer. In San Francisco the place to go get good draft beer include: Suppenkuche- great selection of German pils and lagers, other good beers too. The Toronado- probably the finest selection of drafts in the City- specializing in many craft brews. La Trappe Cafe- good Belgians on draft.
Beer is useless. Hard liquor, almost useless. If you're gonna go with a high, might as well go with a good psychedelic hallucinogen!! (Yes I know I'm being entirely inappropriate, because this is "the beer thread"..and it's entirely on purpose because I'm a dick).
Some beers recommend by other PF'rs which turned out to be really good: And pretty much all of these:
I like PBR because it's much better than other average beers (Bud Light, Miller, etc) that run near the same price - if I want a decent beer but don't want to spend to much (ex. Stella Artois) then I'll pick up a 6 pack of PBR - I'm definitely open to trying new brews though.
I've found a new favorite! Shift from New Belgium Brewing. I HIGHLY recommend this one. It's dry, crisp, and bitter, but every drink explodes with floral and citrus notes. It's a great beer for drinking, not sipping, very refreshing. If you can find it locally, get it, I doubt you'll be disappointed. BTW, this 4 pack will deliver a satisfying buzz.
i like seven eleven beer because its cheap and gives a buzz, haven't been able to purchase brand name labels for awhile but i like coronas.
Ice cold Corona with a slice of lime is excellent on a hot day. Corona has a nice neutral taste about it. It's undeniably beer, but doesn't leave much of an impression otherwise... a good party beer.
Totally inappropriate and also wrong! Nothing wrong with drinking beer AND whiskey! Now here's the Best combo cocktail Beer + double shot + line of coke = Good Time
Those are all delicious. As are New Belgium products. This Saturday I will be attending the Colorado Brewers Rendezvous. It should be awesome.
For the beer snobs: Beer is to Whisky/Whiskey as Ford is to Ferrari. No matter how much you trick it out...it's still beer, and it's still a Ford. Nothing wrong with a Ford of course, but it will never be a Ferrari.
(*)(*)(*)(*), some of you drink really crappy beer. Stella sucks by the way. Hennepin from Brewery Ommegang - Fruity and refreshing on the nose with some wild and sour notes on the back. This is a delicious Saison. Prima Pils from Victory - refreshing, floral with citrus. Awesome for warm days. Two Hearted Ale from Bell's Brewery - A delightful IPA with just the right amount of bitterness and a bit of grapefruit citrus.
