All central banks and fiat money have failed in the past. The market will dictate what is needed and what is not. Money should be a commodity, not a government scrip forced on the populace by rule of law.
The government doesn't want this because it will lose a significant amount of power over it's subjects, and most people are brainwashed into believing fiat money is the only option.
    Wake up!

    Nonsense.

You attempted another pathetic leftist personal attack on a guy I believe is correct, and I defended his positions as correct.

The minute I did, you caterwauled about changing the subject, even though you were the one who initiated it.

Hypcritical posting styles don't protect you from scrutiny.

Perhaps you should think about withdrawing from this debate gracefully.

The general population of the USA, while on the gold standard, was more affluent than the current fiat system.

The state doesn't like commodity based monetary systems because they can't have endless wars and usurp individual liberties to expand the size and scope of the state.

It did for thousands of years... Suggesting since it's no longer being used currently it is seen ineffective is clearly suggesting that only the Present matters and the past can go screw.

Does it exist in America? If your argument is that gold always exists even after a society fails than that is pathetic.

Gold is an Element... So even after a Society fails it will still remain to be AU on the Periodic Chart of Elements. The US Dollar and many other past FIAT currencies will simply be a bad dream or just a footnote in History.

Yes, you can buy gold and silver coins minted at government mints and some states accept those coins as currency, which is actually a constitutional obligation.

    No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts;

Does the gold standard in America exist? Can you pay your taxes with gold other than the face value of old gold coins that no one pays taxes with because the value of them in USD is far greater than their face value.

So can you pay taxes with gold?

Why would I want to pay taxes? I don't support the government.

To answer your question, no the gold standard doesn't exist in the US because the state did away with it in order to grab more power over the citizenry.
To dispute the current state monetary policy is now considered domestic terrorism...

    http://lewrockwell.com/orig12/ledd1.1.1.html

Ever since the US got off the gold standard, the US dollar has radically diminished in value. Why is gold so expensive? Or is it expensive? The fiat money forced on the civilian population has lost it's value due to inflation. The government is stealing your wealth (not mine because I invest in, and store my wealth in commodities).
