Ignoring ideologues who impersonate epidemiologists on internet forums is an eminently sensible precaution.

Despite the nonsense some ignorant politicians are spouting and their parrots repeating, coronavirus is far more lethal than the common flu. WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated: “Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died. By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected.”

There have been regimes that have advocated the race be improved by elimination of the elderly and inform, but the US had not previously exhibited that attitude.

I would estimated that half of over 70s have underlying medical conditions. And a significant percentage of under 70 have asthma and diabetes which are also underlying medical conditions. I'm not concerned for myself but am concerned for my parents

And the epidemiologists have already noted that the vast majority of cases have mild symptoms and thus are not reported

If you were doing a similar happy dance in 2009 and 2010 when Obama and Biden were infecting 60 million and killing as many as 18,000 Americans as you do with each of the 41 Coronavirus deaths, Obama may not have been reelected to dismantle our military, fund Iran's adventurism in the Middle East, and outsource our manufacturing to China. Some of the 41 victims of Coronavirus might not have been exposed.

 

They will be sacrificed regardless of the economy. Given the choice between saving a young persons life and an old persons life the medical community will choose to use limited resources on the younger person. They look at years saved rather than lives saved.
