Jason Whitlock was on Tucker tonight like he often is commenting on the Jussie verdict.

Current event(Jussie Smolett verdict, 5 months in cook county jail).

According to Whitlock the Smolett case could spell the end to the modern civil rights movement. He said these are the "death throes" of that movement. Why? Because despite the fact that Smolett is a horrible pos person promoting hate through lies. Because despite Smolett is so obviously guilty and was not a victim of anything the rank and file leadership on civil rights in this country supported him anyway.

Interesting point. It sure says something about BLM, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the Obamas, the president of the NAACP to take up his case. What horrible people they must be. They support a hate monger and criminal only because he is a certain color and has the right opinion.

Jussie Smolett was not a victim of anything! He did not grow up dirt poor. He was a well paid actor on a network tv show. He creates a fake hate crime totally pre meditated not for promoting anything positive. No he did it to promote himself!

So why did this pos get all this support? The civil rights movement was supposed to be for the victimized. Those who were beaten trying to vote. People who had fire hoses shot at them and dogs sicced on them for trying to desegregate an unfair system. Smolett was not fighting for any of that. He was promoting himself through hate.

Whitlock has a point. I hope he is right.

Smolett's crime may have played a role in ending the show Empire. Other things were blamed like the inability of the show to film new episodes for a while because of Covid. But Jussie's antics caused them to write him off the show and that seemed to be the beginning of the end. So credit Jussie for helping to end a black tv show that provided work for several talented black actors.

More reason to celebrate and support him eh?

Civil rights should be something everyone strives to advance. If all it takes is one person fabricating a crime for someone to cheer it’s “death throes” that says more about that person than anything.

That said he deserves more time and I am glad our justice system caught him which ultimately lead to a lifelong penalty, the destruction of his career.

Great job not reading the post at all. Congrats!

Nobody said that. It is how people have reacted to Jussie and continued to support him anyway knowing he fabricated this. If the leaders of the civil rights movement, so called black power movement whatever support him that indicates they have no moral authority to do anything.

Civil rights as in civil liberties are always worth fighting for. It is nothing to do with race.

Civil rights as in civil liberties are always worth fighting for. It has everything to do with any minority group within a society.

With that said, I absolutely do not believe the Smollett case at all. Not even a little bit.

Let me restate my point clearly for those too lazy to read the opening post.

The black civil rights movement supported Jussie Smolett AFTER they knew he he was guilty. AFTER they knew he perpetrated a fake hate crime.

The president of the NAACP-Jesse Jackson-Al Sharpton-BLM all submitting letters asking for leniency. The Obamas pressuring Kim Foxx to drop the charges outright AFTER knowing the truth.

    Civil rights are for everybody.

Would love your definition of minority. I'm one.

You saying you believe Jussie is a liar makes the case. Why did he get all that support then?

    Agreed.
The same definition everyone has for minority - the smaller percentage of any demographic in a society (ie. race, religion, creed, sexuality, etc.).
Can you reword the first sentence please? I can't answer the second until I know what the first one means.

I'm a white male. Gentile, hetero. 28-29% of the country. Minority!

    Jesse who?

The only people who will remember this case in 3 years will be the few talking heads on right wing talk shows.

But we will still remember the "I have a dream," speech a hundred years from now.

It seems to me that the Civil Rights movement succeeded. All ethnicities enjoy equal protections under the law. *applause*

The current 'movement' that likes to frame itself as 'civil rights' seeking to attain social and economic equality of results is something other than 'civil rights.' I don't know exactly what it should be called (maybe communism) but its not 'civil rights.'

"BLM, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the Obamas, the president of the NAACP" are not Civil Rights leaders. Some of them may have been in the past, but they already led their movement to victory. Now they're about like those Japanese WWII soldiers that would be found living in the woods 40 years later still thinking the white devils were going to invade any minute now...

I get your point about these folks throwing in with Jussie 'clearly lying' Smollett. But I think trying to frame it as having anything to do with civil rights is akin to playing along with a rigged game.

Nobody said he did. Another person who cannot read.

What about the FACT that almost all of the so called black activists and organizations went to bat for him? Doesn't that destroy their credibility?

like I said, I do not know why they would do that, any more than I know why anyone would support Trump after all he did

This is the normal response to Jussie's fake hate crime from the chief of police.

"Took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career."

"Why would someone looking at the hate and suffering associated with that symbol(Noose) and see an opportunity to use that symbol to further his own public profile?"

"How could somebody embraced by the city of Chicago then go and slap everybody in this city in the face by making these false claims?"

5 months isn’t enough but I’m glad he is serving some actual jail time.

Do you find it bizarre that a "celebrity" would lie about something like that?

Bizarre? No, he would not be the first.

Like Lebron said "being black in America is tough"...

So why is he still here?

You think Lebron is lying too? I didn't watch the video. I'm too tired to pay attention.

Michelle got Kim Foxx to drop the charges. See my previous post.
