Exclusive: World-renowned biologist accused of bullying student, stealing his work

One of the world’s foremost conservation biologists is being accused of plagiarism and bullying by a former PhD student, Retraction Watch has learned.

The biologist, Stuart Pimm of Duke University, strongly denies the charges, but he and his colleagues have acknowledged the existence of “closely related” work following an internal investigation by Duke.

The allegations surfaced late last month on X, formerly known as Twitter, in a thread that quickly went viral, garnering hundreds of thousands of views and drawing comments from a broad swath of scientists.

In the thread, Ruben Dario Palacio claimed his former academic advisor “threatened to kick me out of Duke” to make him work faster. Palacio decided to change labs due to the alleged “bullying and harassment,” he said, and three months later, in April 2020, published his research as a preprint. The article appeared in the journal Diversity and Distributions in October 2021.

Like the 2017 video of the National Geographic starving polar bear, the 2022 deaths of emperor penguin deaths promoted last week is emotional blackmail. Both are examples of preposterous fear-mongering pushed by activist scientists and the media for political purposes. Don’t fall for it.


Despite the hype last week over the newly published paper by Peter Fretwell and colleagues, there is no plausible ecological rationale for proposing that that a single season’s reproductive failure in four small colonies of emperor penguin (Aptenodytes fosteri), due to La Nina conditions — phenomena unrelated to carbon dioxide emissions — are signs of a future “quasi-extinction” of the species, as proposed in the BAS video here. None of the estimated 282,150 breeding pairs of adult emperors were lost in 2022 off the Antarctic Peninsula and chicks born in several dozen other emperor colonies around the Antarctic continent survived, which means this was a tiny bump in the road rather than a catastrophe for the species.

Not only politicians, but also companies are starting to get hysterical when it to comes to climate. There are now drastic wage cuts if employees drive or eat meat.

Germany’s APOLLO NEWS here reports that soccer club VfL Osnabrück is now “penalizing its employees with climate fines.”

“Based on an individual CO₂ footprint calculated by the club, deductions are made from their salaries as a penalty for climate-unfriendly behavior,” reports the German site.

As it’s probably a dream of many people to be employed by a professional sports team, the club will probably get away with it. Unhappy employees can be easily replaced.

But in the current environment of a severe skilled workers shortage, other companies may be extremely hesitant to enact such a draconian and personally intrusive policy. It also likely violates German labor law. In any case, VfL Osnabrück does show just how loony the climate craze is getting.

According to the APOLLO site: “The soccer club calculates the amount of salary that is deducted based on things like how far its employees travel to work or how much meat they consume.”

According to the VfL Osnabrück site: “Common good clause: VfL employees compensate for professional CO₂ emissions.”

Yes, in its employment contracts with the workers, VfL Osnabrück has a public welfare clause which states the employee pledges “to actively support the club’s orientation toward the common good” and also contains “a mandatory reference to the compensation of occupational CO₂ emissions.”

According to APOLLO, VfL Osnabrück “surveys” the “Co2 footprint” of each employee, which is based on, among other things, the length of the commute and eating habits.

“Compensation takes place by deducting the corresponding monetary value directly from the employee’s salary.” VfL Osnabrück calls what amounts to a penalty tax “a direct monetary incentive to change behavior.”

The club mentions again and again that it’s all about protecting our grandchildren’s future.

When asked by German national daily Die Welt, the club refused to provide the exact wording of the employment clause, citing “confidentiality and secrecy”.

 

They are actually KILLING their children's future with the coming famine they are creating in the attempt to satisfy their made-up CO2 god.

Warmist/alarmists are showing signs of mental illness.

A power outage struck Tesla’s Gigafactory in Grünheide, Germany, causing a halt in production early this morning. The cause of the outage remains under investigation, but reports suggest a fire was deliberately set and damaged an electricity pylon near the factory, leading to power cuts in the surrounding area, including Grünheide.

The impact of the outage on Tesla production schedules and delivery timelines is yet to be determined. Tesla is expected to provide further updates as the situation unfolds.

The left-wing extremist classified ,”Vulkan Group”, has reportedly claimed responsibility for the “attack on the power supply” in a letter that paralyzed the Tesla plant.

“This was specifically directed against the car manufacturer.,” according to euronews.com here. “The authenticity of the letter is still being investigated by the police. ‘We sabotaged Tesla today,’ the group allegedly states in the letter.”

There have been repeated protests against planned plant expansion. Activists from the “Stop Tesla” initiative are currently demonstrating against the US company’s expansion plans on the Grünheide site.

“For more than a week, around 100 environmental activists from the initiative have been occupying a forest near the Tesla factory. Around 100 hectares of forest are to be cleared there to make room for warehouses, a freight depot and a company kindergarten,” reports euronews.com.

Eco-terrorism against sustainable future

Tesla began construction of the Gigafactory in Grünheide, near Berlin in May 2020, and opened in March, 2022. The facility manufactures batteries and electric vehicles, the first plant of its kind in Europe for Tesla.

The plant’s opening was a significant step in promoting sustainable transportation. The opening ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany and Robert Habeck, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Earlier, Chancellor Angela Merkel and other government officials welcomed Tesla’s decision to build the factory and viewed it as a positive development for Germany’s green future and as a step to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation.

But now it is increasingly becoming apparent that radical leftwing groups don’t even want sustainable energy.

Five years ago, we published an article about Roger Hallam in this blog. He is the founder of XTinction Rebellion and an activist with Stop Oil.

Interestingly, these groups are/were funded with money from oil heirs. Already in 2019 we had many doubts about Hallam’s “story” – it was simply too implausible.

No, you don’t have to trawl through meteorological data from Wales to find such a summer rain period. At least not in the last 10 – 15 years. Small spoiler: It did not exist!

However, the perception of Extinction Rebellion (XR) cult founder Roger Hallam is completely different. In an interview in Spiegel, he talks about his apparently traumatic experience with the 7 weeks of rain in Wales that destroyed his carrot crop. The fact that the interviewer did not notice some inconsistencies in Hallam’s statements does not exactly speak in his favor. But that’s the way it is with human perception.

Hallam described himself as a small farmer, yet, at the same time, 25 jobs had been lost due to the verifiably non-existent rainy season. The XR founder also was not entirely familiar with the year of his personal tragedy. In the interview, he states that ’10 – 15 years ago’ he also lost several hundred thousand pounds.

Let’s imagine that losing so much money puts your own existence at risk. Would we later no longer be able to name the exact year? Even the amount of his loss (‘several hundred thousand pounds’) did not arouse any skepticism with the interviewer. According to Ökolandbau.de, the profit contribution in carrot cultivation is the equivalent to 6,300 pounds per hectare. In terms of profit, this amounts to 2,100 pounds per hectare. So for every hundred thousand pound loss, Hallam would have had to cultivate almost 16 hectares (50 hectares). With carrots only, mind you.”

Extinction Rebellion XR has been somewhat quiet. In Germany, the “Last Generation” took over the actions, in the United Kingdom Stop Oil. These actions included smearing art and blocking roads.

5 years in prison

The verdict was recently handed down and Hallam was hit hard. He can now spend five years in prison thinking about whether these protests were worthwhile.

Hallam had repeatedly failed to comply with court orders. And of course, in his opinion, the system is corrupt. BBC:

Hallam said in a statement during the trial: ‘The corruption of our judges by the carbon state has crossed a line in the sand. This is an opportunity, and an obligation, to act. We only have a limited amount of time to halt the unimaginable horrors of climate and social collapse – and to save our democracy.’ The law of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance, which was introduced in 2022, outlaws direct action that causes ‘serious harm’ to a section of the public. This can include property damage, injury, serious distress, annoyance or inconvenience. In April 2023, Morgan Trowland, who scaled the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, was jailed for three years for an offence under the new legislation. The judge in the M25 case argued that Parliament had made clear it saw non-violent direct action against national infrastructure as serious and passed a law allowing him to hand down sentences of up to 10 years – more than for some violent offences.”

 

This is a man who has lost his mind and devolved into a 24/7 clown boy.
