It the ANU - you can get an opinion on ANYTHING :p

But in the context of Australia - yeah we totally missed the nuclear boat x mind you all we really need to do is run a couple of wires into Rum Jungle and we would be sweet :)

He is a good friend of mine who has a PHD in Atmosphere Physics and Retired LEO, not going to tell you what he stated because you have no interest in it and that published paper Jack posted since you didn't read it or give a detailed reaction to it.

Your pretensions don't help you here.

I would support it if it was government run, not for profit

and I think the first one should be built next to Mar-a-Lago ;) let the rich show us how safe they are...

And all I have is your word that someone you know who may or may not be what you claim said something that might or might not agree with standard scientific literature

As for giving a “detailed reaction” (which is a prettying effing meaningless statement in regard to research)

    I DON’T HAVE TO
See I have the IPCC on my side or rather I side with the IPCC and what YOU have to do is show where they are wrong

Your pretensions move vivid than ever, and you still ignored the paper and still no counterpoint either which means it remains unchallenged.

Here is his twitter that shows his retired status as an Atmospheric Physicist Billy_Bob on Twitter: "A whole lot of hard empirical evidence dispels the "Climate Emergency" Deception... https://t.co/u2xzE9YAwk" / Twitter

Thus, you offer nothing of value here but a lot of noise.

You don't because you can't as there is no effective counterpoint to make against it a reality you keep avoiding.

You can't even address this simple stuff at all which many warmist/alarmists fails as well because there is no effective counter to it:

Next, here is the radical change in downwelling radiation at the surface from the increase in CO2 that is supposed to be driving the “CLIMATE EMERGENCY!!!” What I’ve shown is the change that in theory would have occurred from the changes in CO2 from 1750 to the present, and the change that in theory will occur in the future when CO2 increases from its present value to twice the 1750 value. This is using the generally accepted (although not rigorously derived) claim that the downwelling radiation change from a doubling of CO2 is 3.7 watts per square metre (W/m2). The purpose is to show how small these CO2-caused changes are compared to total downwelling radiation.

The changes in downwelling radiation from the increase in CO2 are trivially small, lost in the noise …

This is 101 stuff that you WILL fail to understand and address.

Bottom line - it is not about you or me. Now tell me what is the basis for the decision making around climate change and actions that must be taken? Which resource are the world governments using? Hint - it is not WUWT.

And if this had any credence it would be published in a scientific journal not on some blog

Just as the Warsaw Pact and then the Soviet Union came to sudden ends that surprised most people, so the role of the IPCC in the climate discussion will fail because of accumulated contrary evidence. And just as in the aftermath of the Cold War heroes and villains were identified in a serial reckoning, so too will climate propagandists and truth tellers be identified. WUWT will be found to be among the latter.

As we learned from Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does."
On To The Great Future Of Offshore Wind Power
    December 19, 2022/ Francis Menton
    [IMG]

    • Today was a big day on the way to New York’s energy future: Our “Climate Action Council” voted to approve the final “Scoping Plan,” telling us all how we are going to achieve, among other goals, 70% of statewide electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030 and a zero-emission electricity system by 2040. The press release has the headline “New York State Climate Action Council Finalizes Scoping Plan to Advance Nation-Leading Climate Law.” Here also is a link to the Scoping Plan itself.

    • Taking a look at the Scoping Plan and its Executive Summary, I find that the two biggest elements in getting to this zero-emissions electricity system are supposedly going to be offshore wind turbines and energy storage. I’ve covered the energy storage issues extensively here.

    • But how about this offshore wind thing? Surely, to commit New York to transitioning to using offshore wind as the primary source of electricity only seven years from now, they must have a very solid game plan for how it is going to happen.

    • Actually, as with everything else here, they have no idea.

Italy Plans An Energy U-Turn, A Comeback To Nuclear Power As Green Energies “Far From Sufficient”

Italy is planning an energy U-turn reports, the Berliner Morgenpost:
“So while Germany is saying goodbye to the use of nuclear energy, the technology is making a comeback in Italy, where people turned away from it almost 40 years ago. This is more than noteworthy, since Italy is so far the only major European country besides Germany that has abandoned the use of nuclear energy. Under the pressure of the energy crisis, however, the Italians have suddenly become painfully aware of their heavy dependence on electricity from abroad. The issue is moving citizens because they are clearly feeling the inflation of their electricity bills, despite government aid.”

Expect many countries to follow Italy’s course correction – except for Germany, which will obstinately cling to its wind and solar ideology to the very end even though a growing number of experts are calling for an extension of the operating times of its remaining nuclear plants.

The Berliner Morgenpost adds that Italy produces only 25 percent of the energy it needs itself. “Although renewable energies have been significantly expanded in recent years, the production of green electricity is far from sufficient.”

Surely nuclear power plants would provide a much needed energy boost for Italy. Whether the country can do away completely with fossil fuels, remains doubtful, however.

all nuclear is not equal, the original reactors relied on solid fuel and 3000psi water cooling, very dangerous, currently liquid thorium failsafe reactors hold great promise with smaller modular units
