I'm going to be blunt and feisty as this is a wonderful celebration for me: Supporting AA is supporting racist and segregationist policies. Period. There can be no policy that has race as a discriminating factor, as a part of a Legal America. For over the past 60 years, this demon has gotten in the way of the full realization of Brown V Board of Education along with the Pleissy ruling which expressively forbade this demon from even being born.

But because the racism and segregation was benefiting those who were mistreated in the past, most legal scholars either went along with it, or felt no reason to challenge it. But there are more minorities than just African-Americans, and these minorities were in the cold.

So it was in North Carolina and in California where those minorities challenged the law and today they prevailed. They overturned the last 60 years of racism. This will benefit minorities as a whole, as they no longer have to question their credentials. And for those who fail the tests, they know that they failed because of their own shortcomings, not due to some racial bias.

I said it was a win for Nationalism and a win for the USA, but it's even more of a victory then that. It's a victory and a return to meritocracy, in a country who long since lost her meritocratic values and plundered as a result of losing those values.

We are moving closer to a More Perfect Union, then we have in the past.

Afirmative action is restitution for the years of suffering caused by jim crow laws, not racism.

It's racism. Any law that has its basis on race, is inherently racist. It doesn't matter what reason someone gives to it, or what spin they put on it. It's against Brown V Board of Education and Pleissy. It never should've been allowed for the last 60 years, let alone today. And so, similarly to other flawed laws, the nation will have to adjust to a conservative SCOTUS.

This court is purifying America of her past judicial sins, one law at a time. And hey, the left was happy at rejecting the election theory(and strengthening the courts in the process.), so they should see this as a valid tradeoff if they want a powerful court.

I've no doubt that Higher Education will continue to discriminate based on race, regardless of what the Supreme Court says.

Perhaps, but this is the greatest middle finger that could've been given to those who claim to care for minorities, all the meanwhile implementing policies of cruel discrimination.

When you hire someone to repair your roof do you hire them on the basis of the color of their skin, or how much they charge for the service?

Neither. It should be who can do the best job. Not color or price.

True to a large extent, but the consumer will choose a cheaper plumber, if they can get similar quality of service. It's called stretching the buck.

But because its meritocratic, our laws should be based on meritocracy(who does the best). With the destruction of AA, we have moved that much closer to it.

Funny thing is those other minorities that AA covers (women, military, disabled) are never whined about from the right. Funny how that works.

Will it also do that for women, military vets and the disabled?

Prove it with stats! This is a great day for Asian-Americans as well. You know, the ones that are generally the smartest group the left likes to shun. It looks like they won't have to be discriminated against for being smart
Zhao told CNN: "Our children will no longer be treated as second-class citizens in college admissions. This is a victory for all Americans because they should preserve American democracy, which is the bedrock of the American dream."
You should be celebrating. Do you really want the left being associated with racist policies? Its bad enough they will forever be known as the party of "WE'RE COMING FOR YOUR CHILDREN"
Its time they clean up their reputation!

except in practice it benefited rich black kids whose parents already had benefited from the first wave of AA. When I was at Yale, almost all the black students-save athletic recruits-were from upper middle class backgrounds and had attended either prestigious private schools or wealthy public schools.

It's all-encompassing. But I understand why the Left can never see that. Since when has the Left ever been patriotic about the American Experiment? From the days of the Vietnam War, onward, the Left has had a profound hatred for the United States of America and for her identity as a meritocratic nation.

Since the left hates the nation, it cannot possibly embrace national policies. This is why the Left courts minorities as minorities, not as Americans. If those minorities view themselves as Americans, then the Democratic 'coalition' would be no more. The funny thing is, this coalition cannot separate itself from the nation no matter how much it wishes. And so in embracing anti-national policies, the minorities themselves are hurt. Self-hatred has never been a core component of a healthy person, or a healthy politics.

gender/sex is an illegal reason to discriminate. Veteran status is not

i hire roofers who have done satisfactory work for my neighbors, union roofers would be a plus, but remember, no matter who you contract with to do a roofing job, you will not see him again, and the crew that shows up will not speak english.

white women were the beneficiaries of massive affirmative action a generation ago. Hilary Clinton never would have made it into Yale Law with her failure to even graduate cum laude at Wellesley, if she had been male. That form of AA has been dissipating though

a lot of lazy stupid white guys are about to learn that affirmative action is not the reason they will never be promoted.

what makes you think the usa is a "meritocracy?" most good jobs and promotions go to family members, as demonstrated by trump's "senior advisers. "
